Today, 7/4, I must have experienced some of the worst players that CCP games has to offer. Both in DUST and EVE Online.
I don't mean to get off on a rant here (or maybe I do,) but holy frakkin' crazy bantha poo doo. This day started out horribly. First, EVE Online. I'm out mining asteroids. I'm badly in debt now since I've now been pod killed three times in the last month all by players who freely admit that they did so simply "because they could." I have lost almost one billion ISK in ships and equipment. But the mining is going good. Then, two guys with "Kill on sight" status enter the asteroid belt and kill me in three seconds. CONCORD shows up and destroys them. Suddenly, I am hit with a bounty from one of the attackers. A little investigation reveals that these two were paid to attack me by the last guy who pod killed me. That player killed me because while I was salvaging a wreck, I must have inadvertently looted it and gained suspect status. But that player did not like the fact that I didn't want to talk to him the next day and ordered a hit be put on me. Great. I'm now out another sixty million ISK and cannot afford to replace the ship or the equipment on it. So I'm back to using a Venture and sub-par mining lasers for several days. But even if I get enough ISK to buy back all the stuff, the EVE rule of "Never fly what you cannot afford to lose" comes in to affect. More use of the Venture and no leaving 1.0 space. Grand. EVE game ruined.
Fine. I'll switch to DUST. It's past Wednesday. Bonus SP is up. Being a logistic, I hop in to a few standard battles. Five battles in a row are absolute and utter squashes. But what really annoyed me was that in at least three of them, I was in the process of hacking a turret when an ally, in his tank, promptly destroys the turret. Well. That's just great.
Enough of the "melting pot" general fighting. Let's find a good squad and see if there is a bit more team oriented activity. Not much activity there because people who make rooms to form squads do not ever play the game. They just make the room and sit there. Even if the room fills up with people chatting "Go," they never queue up. Thirty minutes of that and I find an active group. "Sure, logis r great" they say. BUT I cannot play with them without a mic. I chat to them that I do not have a headset that will work with a Playstation. They inform me that this is fine. I just need to listen. I turn on the mic volume and in to battle we go.
I am not making this up. All the talk the leader and the four others in the squad did was say "F-bomb, f-bomb, f-bomb, f-bomb, f-bomb, f-bomb that guy, f-bomb this guy, f-bomb, f-bomb, f-bomb, f-bomb that guy's mother, f-bomb" aaaaaaaaaaand "f-bomb." This was the reason I had to have a mic to group with these guys? To listen to them curse like angry managers? I left the group after the game was over. An hour later, I received an f-bomb filled mail from one of them that I should never revive them again with my "tranne ject, you stupid c-word." I carry an advanced injector that restores 80% armor on revive.
Suffice it to say, I feel like I'm drowning in yet another toxic gaming community. How am I supposed to have fun at these games with such "wonderful" experiences? There must be some secret to playing CCP games that I'm missing. So, I ask "What is the secret?" How do you enjoy playing with things like this being the constants? I freely admit I cannot solo win a DUST game. And the real-time aspect to earning your way to better equipment makes losing feel like a 2x4 to the head. What am I missing?
Oh, and please, if you're going to say things like "Get a thicker skin," "cry more noob," "lol u suck," in response, just don't. Haven't I dealt with enough immaturity today?
*Edit. Even the forums are not helping. This is the third time I've tried to post this without the forums saying there is no text. Life sucks.

Join a half decent corp that isn't full of immature children who think it's cool to swear. NPC corp isn't doing you any favours. I don't have time for a more in-depth response, wish I did.

Unfortunately, CCP games have never been friendly to new players. They generally appeal to 'toxic players' as you put it, and that doesn't really lead to friendly communities.
I highly recommend you join a decent corp if you want to continue trying to play DUST. I guarantee that there are a lot of corps out there who don't spend the entire match swearing, and games are much more enjoyable for it. Having a competent squad that won't break at the first stress from enemies will make matches much easier, give you something to logi, and being able to have a laugh with squadmates you like is fantastic. Getting in a good corp with people I can chat with is one of the things that's stopped me from quitting long ago.
I'd say that the 'secret' in both games is to find people you can play with. There are loads of corps in EVE that'll take on newbies who're willing to learn, and loads of decent corps in DUST who are happy to take players with a mic.
The pub squads you tend to find through squad finder or some of the larger channels tend to be of very low quality. If you post a thread in the Corporation Recruitment section saying something along the lines of 'New logi looking for corp, have a mic' then a number of people will take an interest in you there. You can also try sifting through that to find a corp you like the look of.
You have long since made your choice. What you make now is a mistake.

Meh does it really matter.
As a wise old Pyrex once said.
Crack a beer, watch some TV, and touch a boob. And it will all be better.
Now today I was dropped while I wasn't paying attention by a dude in a Police Commet who held me up, took a witness statement, confiscated and liquidated my ship, and told me my court order was in the mail.
I wanted to fire back......but he was a Cop...... and assaulting a police officer is bad ju ju
Still I practically pissed myself laughing as he typed.

Hahahahaha, that is bad.
So you hadn't learnt around the 500 million isk mark?.
I have a problem in ps2 with butthurt people. When I snipe, 9/10 times a guy I killed will bum rush me just to kill me before dying again.
I can't begin to describe how pathetic that is in a game like ps2. Its nothing to do with tactics because 4 seconds later I'll be back and re locating. Its just pure butthurt and I actually find it sad.
They will literally run about 150 metres just to kill me before getting gunned down by x amount of friendlies in the area lol. I spawn in and 3 seconds later I'm back and they have to re spawn in the base we are usually taking that they should have been helping defend rather than being a pathetic little slag.
Just like every other Englishmen, I bath in tea, have no teeth and live in a castle.

You have to be somewhat of a masochist to enjoy ccp's games. Hate mail and bad player behavior makes the game more entertaining. As long as you don't become what you hate you'll be fine.
Maybe a corp might help. Corp members usually are respectful and will guide you instead of putting you down if you make a simple mistake. Some people take the game too seriously and treat everyone they don't know like a newberry if they aren't doing exceedingly better than them, or carrying the team. |

Sounds like me XD Except that it's usually because I'm there doing all the work for the team while I watch my squad continually die in the same place with no strategy whatsoever.
The other day I yelled at my squad to come back me up at the objective because I was literally solo-ing the other team with an adv suit and a shotgun at the objective by destroying their uplinks and camping them. It wasn't until 10 people charged at me that I finally died...but by that time I had already hacked and controlled the objective long enough to turn the game around for our entire team.
The conversation went like this:
"Where the **** are you guys? There's no one at Alpha, I just destroyed all their uplinks" "There's a tank and a dropship over here spawn camping us" "Then stop spawning on that uplink, spawn at the base, drive a LAV to the other side of the map and drop uplinks there"
2 minutes later
"****, I'm all by myself here and no one is ******* helping me. They have no uplinks over here and I keep destroying them every time they try and get close. Why the **** is no one here with me right now?" "I can't kill this tank" "Stop ******* around with the tank, they're just distracting you guys. spawn in a scout suit with a dampener, get over here and help me already" "I'm not skilled into cloaks" "Then ignore the tank and run around to the outside. That tank is a noob."
I die. Proceed to spawn in a forge gun fit and kill both enemy tanks and the dropship within 30 seconds.
"See? What the **** were you doing? I just two-shotted that tank. Get some uplinks and meet me by the bridge" "okay I have some uplinks, I'll drop them over on the outside" "Wow, they have like 50 ******* uplinks on the bridge now" "nevermind I just destroyed all of them, help me hack this"
We control the bridge, I rush towards their spawns. 5 seconds later the enemy is hacking Alpha
"Dude there's like 20 blueberries on the objective, why is no one killing the guy hacking it" "They keep spawning on the uplink over here" "Fine I'll come back...wow they're all spawning on one uplink you guys. Why has no one destroyed it yet?"
We all die from an orbital. One uplink left
"There's only one uplink left, everyone spawn in uplink fits and get some more down. I'll try to get some around there too...gosh dangit, the uplink ran out. Someone drop one" "I don't have uplinks" "Why the **** did you spawn on the only uplink we had, and NOT bring uplinks?" "I thought someone else was doing it"

Is finding a corp really the answer? The last corp I joined in EVE invited me to a fleet mining session, dropped a book mark in to the middle of a pirate group, and then laughed when I warped in and was promptly destroyed.
There are so many jerks and morons that I just don't know who to trust. And their recruiters all say the same things: "We are a good group, we have fun, we wouldn't act like that." Then they do.
I can only imagine the fun people in DUST would have. Like a factional warfare bit where everyone on the team kills you until their friendly fire marks are used up and they laugh at all the equipment I've lost and have to repurchase.
Who are the "nice" corps out there? Maybe I'll look them up.

my advice is to stop mining and take up ratting with a cloaking device fit. by studying the map you can find a quiet corner in nullsec to rat if your willing to take about 30 jumps away from highsec. the pay can be almost 40-50mil per hour. and there's a chance to loot rare officer mods- i sold 1 for 450 mil. i've ratted for hours before another player checks me out, when his name appears in local i warp to safe spot, cloak, watch youtube and 5-15 minutes later he leaves and i go back to ratting.
also it helps to be polite to your aggressors, do not whine to them, do not reason with them, do not try to play into their sympathy- they have none. the less emotion you give them they will find you boring and move on to the next player who gives them the text/attention they seek. if you can make them laugh they might reimburse you.

a little tidbit, try looking for a corp with a real goal, pvp, pve, industry. they need a drive, otherwise there is a good chance that you'll have a bad time. also look for a smaller corp to start, the bigger ones tend to just grind you under their boot. my corp in eve for instance we focus on pvp against other people, looking for dec's and giving them out. most of the guys in my corp are looking for things to shoot, but we want to do it as a team. logis are always wanted in a pvp corp. if you can skill into something like that in eve you become more valuable. |

Life sucks. I call bullshit, the ADV version only revives 50%,the Pro revives 80%,the "State" exclusive revives 100%.
Any real logistics would know this.
But anyway...i know how you feel OP and how do i cope? 1.Turn off Dust. 2.Wait 24 hours. 3.Play until i get annoyed (with scouts being as OP as they are it's about 3-4 matches) 4.Go back to #1
If CCP screws over logistics in the medium suit balance that'll be the last straw for me,i'll biomass and never look back.

Any real logistics would know this. I was TOLD my Minmatar medium logicistics suit gave a bonus to my injectors. I could have been lied to.
It is difficult to see just how much armor was restored, take the revived target's total armor, and then calculate the percentage of armor I restored in the thick of battle. I wish I could do that. Sadly, I was born human and not Vulcan (much to my everlasting shame.)
In any case, I did not deserve being cussed out for using a "tranne" injector. My current injector is an advanced model and not a militia version. I would like to think I am not a "noob." But opinions seem to vary.
If only I knew it required you to buy a skill before you could actually hit your target...

Hmm. Can't say much, I feel ya on the squad thing. That's why I squad up with my own peeps, the Dethdealers.
Look, I was pretty much bored with DUST 514 till I met a guy named Uriah Maack or something like that.
He was a heavy, and he knew how to talk ****. Every sentence ended or began with the word, and he would spam it like the enemy team would do tanks. But hell, he knew how to give orders. He would be yelling out commands, dropping orbies (orbitals, but we call 'em orbies) left and right. And you know why? He actually gave us orders we could follow. Despite sounding like an ignorant, blimey ****** he was a logical leader and brought us to victory.
When we were losing he encouraged us and brought us back together, when we were spread out he made us regroup. No one in the squad was just doing their own thing. We were all calling out targets, keeping an eye out on the radar.
Guess what? Our squad ended up top 6 players on our team game after game after game.
Squad up if you wanna see what real fun is. Send me a message or something :3
Hey, I get it if you like being a lone wolf. So do I. But this guy made it fun to play DUST. Made me realize why I'm breathing, because Teamwork is essential to a Mercenary Core.
Don't forget--if there's one thing in life that we cant, its that Teamwork in a group is what distinguishes the best mercenaries like Boba Fett, to some no name like that changeling female-monster in Starwars. Albeit, they both worked as soloists but I think you get my point :3
Wherever the Wind (Aero) might take me, may it ever be True, for the way of the Commando is noble and right.

Life sucks.
Take comfort knowing that people like this are just as pathetic in every other walk of life with those attitudes and will bite them in the *ss.
