For a logibro with prototype equipment, this would mean I know my hives or uplinks are still up after I die or restock at a Supply Depot, and I don't waste them by deploying more.
Important when everyone deploys equipment in an area and you forget which are yours, making you waste some hives or links unnecessarily. Also, this is especially useful on maps where we have to move long distances and you have to leave equipment at a previous location.
Also make all the equipment that you deployed show up on the maps as a different color so that you know where they are deployed at as well. It would also be helpful if your squadmate's equipment showed up as another color on the map too. So like make your equipment show up as blue, squad as purple, and friendly as green etc.

You know that icon on your screen when you use an active scanner or cloak displaying cool down? What if there was one for nano hives displaying how many nanites were left and one for uplinks displaying how many spawns are left and one for proximity mine telling you how many are left etcetera etcetera. I like that. Lets say we have icons on screen for each equipment you have deployed. Around that icon, there could be a circle. The full circle means 100% nanite/spawns, and it slowly 'depletes' like the new cooldown timers on EVE active modules (I forget if they exist in DUST too) .
I think this idea would be bad because it would introduce more lag than it's worth. Right now equipment spamage creates enough lag, now imagine having to query and track all this real time data for every one of the items deployed too.

Right now equipment spamage creates enough lag, now imagine having to query and track all this real time data for every one of the items deployed too. It already tracks the nanites & spawns that are left: that data should merely be displayed as an icon on your HUD. It's no different than how the cooldown icons work with cloaks and active scans and vehicle modules...
However that is all kept track of on the server side once it's deployed and only communicated to the few players that are being affected by the nanohive or dropuplink. So when no one is near any of the equipment, the server only has to keep track of the number and communicate their values to no one. But now you make a situation whereby every single piece of equipment has to continuously report it's overall status to at least one client (and in many cases more than one) all the time and update a persistent graphic realtime.
They've already had enough problems with lag just concerning the graphics and sound for deployed equipment in the past and seemed to solve that by toning down the amount of 3D particle effects for the deployed equipment. This may tip us back over to the unplayable spectrum again.
