One of my last random matches began like this... I make my first appearance on the Skirmish map, my FIRST spawn on the map.
After a moment of silence to check my objective locations and get my bearings, I step out from the CRU area toward some open sky, AND A CALDARI DROPSHIP ON FIRE SLAMS NOSE-FIRST INTO THE DIRT TEN STEPS IN FRONT OF ME, Shocked

AND ON IMPACT A MERCGÇÖS BODY BOUNCES LIKE RUBBER OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND THUMPS DEAD ON THE GROUND BESIDE THE STILL-EXPLODING DS! Shocked

....

What a way to START a match!! If I were a Newberry to this game, I would run back behind the CRUGÇöI wouldnGÇÖt want to take another step out into this game. The shock and terror would have been too great for a first-timer. I couldnGÇÖt stop laughing!

(Those who donGÇÖt do dropships donGÇÖt know it, but thereGÇÖs a brief opportunity to leap out of your destroyed DS as itGÇÖs falling---but thereGÇÖs only one chance to time your exit JUST right, and three ways to die in the attempt, and this poor merc tried and failed right before my eyes. Oh my eyes! )

My ONLY death in that match finally came when our team had redlined the enemy into the structure housing the last Null Cannon objective.
WeGÇÖd already broken their defense and defeated them using hand-weapons alone (no HAV came to support at all----WTF?) and we hacked the Null. But a red-uplink was still functioning somewhere on the other side of the building, so my buddies chose to go and camp on the uplink.
....I disdainfully decided I didnGÇÖt need to be part of that massacre of helpless reds (yeah I know, there's something mentally WRONG with my thinking sometimes Big smile

), so I let my fellow players all go on and have fun without me.... considered the fight over... reloaded my guns....
... heard a friendly HAV (FINALLY, NOW you show up?---forget it, you came too lateGÇöwe donGÇÖt need you now, Gomer Pyle!)...

And as I let the HAV roll past me on my right... in drops a locus grenade two meters in front of me (from a desperate red merc who has probably already died during his blind throw).
I calmly saw the grenade fall near me, calmly knew I had plenty of time to simply strafe-slide out of its blast range----calmly moved to my right with veteran skill... and bumped into that DARN HAV that had arrived too late and decided to park its caboose right beside me. ...BANG
. ...fudge. FUDGE-FUDGE-FUDGE-FUDGE-FUDGE...MOTHER-FUDGE!!!

No... I never have nightmares. Cry

The dropship, upon impact, destroyed an enemy HAV camping the CRU, and then an LAV came out of nowhere, flipping twice and becoming an addition to the vehicle rubble pile. That was glorious.
