It's limiting in the sense that CCP's knowledge on how to code for the PS3 is limited.
I'm going to enjoy seeing PC fanboys and CCP apologists attempt to say otherwise.

It's completely true that the PS3 is too limiting for their vision of the game: they never stated that they hit the PS3's limit, however.
I believe the size of a warzone (an ENTIRE map- beyond the redline) in Dust was estimated to be 24 times larger than your average BF3 map, which isn't much larger than a Dust map anyway. Beta players could zoom the map out to see this entire area, if you don't believe me on the size, fly to the flight ceiling in a dropship and look around. The map is so ******* huge that you can only see 1 or 2 edges of it at a time.

This is what most people ignore or refuse to believe.
Look, I'll admit that i could be considered a fan of CCP. I have an 8 year old main in EVE. Dust is the first FPS i've invested ANY time into.
It's very apparent that CCP can't fix Dust on the PS3. They might have been pull it off on PS4 because coding is similar to a PC, but 'similar' isn't the same as 'exact'. It really makes sense, if they're going to try and fix this at all, for the to code on PC first. It's the only thing the even kind of know how to code for. |

That's some nice engrish there. Supposedly the devs did a 64 player battle internally, but there were too many performance issues to try anything large scale openly. I especially wouldn't trust the dumbass players we have with a 64 player battle. With how things go now, it would be 60 dumbasses in one area spamming explosives and the like, then wondering why their framerate dropped to slideshow mode.

Actually, some old patch notes stated that maps are now unlocked for 24v24, we have yet to see it actually implemented.

the devs skill is limited, not the PS3, look at God of War 3 and tell me this is a system with limits! i'll be on the PS4 soon, so will destiny, so will planetside 2, I don't see DUST being released for it at any time soon. |

And the game is STILL advertised on PSN and other places as a 2-48 player game. I've brought this up before. That's got to be false advertising right?!
I'm not a Hate-Lord but I do have to be fair and honest about what CCP does. (Or doesn't do in this case, would love a 24v24 player battle)

As happy as I'd be with 24v24, I'd be happier with the option for 1v1, or 4v4.

Also why isn't SOE trying to put planetside 2 on the ps3? Big gap between 128v128 and "thousands v thousands v thousands". Also, coding for the two systems is completely different from what I understand. Either way the ps3's limit cannot pull off the vision CCP has of Dust. On the flip side, given CCP's difficulty with coding on it, it has been able to pull off what CCP is capable of doing with it currently. This game is NOT that far off from being a really great game. Some minor tweaks, additions of missing weapons and vehicles, a few more rounds of balancing tweaks and terrain bugfixes.... after that CCP would have a great game that they could just occasionally drop new maps or game modes into and steadily work on tweaking PC/adding in new SP sinks and get Corp Battles put back in.
Better question:how much ass do I have to kiss to get old school Manus Peak back in the rotation?
Even just with the redline and MCC/spawn base adjusted to how it used to be? Pretty much every Codex and older vet has been asking for it for over a year.

Makes you wonder about tranquility connectivity, the eve-connected voice system, and the modules/equipment combinations and how much performance impact that actually has on the game.
Something tells me if they removed the voice system from the game entirely, this story would have been much different. |

Also why isn't SOE trying to put planetside 2 on the ps3? Cause they are putting it on the PS4 which would be a selling reason for the console itself. A decent FPS which is free to play and you wont even need a sub for the PSN. Just natural that Sony wants to keep spome pearls as a next gen thing. Cause if you keep releasing content for both systems (PS3+PS4) why should a customer get a new system if the previous one is still getting supported? |

This isnt a few years ago, this is today. Also, what platform CONSISTENTLY is able to keep up Thats right, PC. You either upgrade the parts for 50-100$ every 2 years or you turn the graphics down (still better graphics than console)
Whats that? A bug has been detected? Let me push that patch out now, not in a month after Sony QA.

Logic and common sense states that EA/DICE has had considerable time with the PS3, learning how to use the hardware. For CCP, this is their first time on a console. That's not mentioning the fact that PS3's architecture makes it difficult to develop on. |

The only thing that limited dust is CCP shanghai because they weren't experienced with the ps3 like western devs such as Duce who have been working with ps3s since launch.
Compare this game to 2005-2007 ps3 titles, because that's where CCP is. thats why they should have made the game in CCP Atlanta and never started the wod nonsense. They would have had resources and easier access to experienced devs. Going to china for console devs when theyve had a console ban for more than a decade is like going to the top of a mountain to build a boat. It was just a bad idea and anyone who says otherwise is either lying to themselves or ignorant.
