Can we have CoD ladders? Kthksbai
But seriously, having to press a button to get on a ladder bothers me, and feels anti-intuitive.
In life, I have this to regret. That too often, when I acquired ISK, I did not have enough of it.

Imagine if you will, the following scenario:
You are in strange place, dark; and littered with the debris of many conflicts. You remember that you are a part of the most recent incantation of this series of unending wars.
You see a man in the distance, he is pointing at you with something, flashes of light and the sounds of screams remind you that this is the enemy you were raised to fight.
You fire back, moving towards the wall nearby for cover; both of you are fairly evenly matched, and have substantially wounded each other.
You step out of cover for a moment, and see a chance to strike him down, but an urge takes hold...
You put your weapon in your holster. You don't know why.
You put your hands behind you. You still don't know why.
Your hands grab onto something. It feels smooth and cylindrical, it is cold to the touch.
The man sees you out of cover, and starts to attack.
You try to shoot back; but the urge is too strong, it takes you a moment to bring yourself back to your senses; you unholster your weapon, but by then it is too late...
The world fades...

Very dramatic, but placing the ladders in such a way that they aren't where you take cover nullifies that argument.

The cover was just story fluff.
Point is, if you are fighting, and while dodging and running around, you hit a ladder; you have the issue that you will put your weapon away (because you need hands to use ladders).
Obvious conflict-free solution is to allow automatic or manual ladder mounting.

I will concede to this judgement. CCP, the people have spoken!

No ladders! But jet packs that replace our inertial dampeners, that slowly recharge and what-not allowing us to (not bunny hop) leap up the side of a tower and/or over crates would be sweet!

No...
NO...
NO...
Do you have any idea how heavy a fully laden Sentential frame is!?
Do you have the slightest idea how much jetpacking you would need to slow down prior to landing after having performed a high-altitude insertion maneuver (AKA: Jumping out out of an MCC or other such high, airborne vehicle)?

Ok, fair point on the sentinel suit - how about a compromise? Heavy suits don't get this ability, they stick with inertial dampeners. Would give more diversity to roles and still look cool with the particle effects that CCP want to implement...... Actually I like this idea way more that my original! Good stuff!!
