I am personally going to be running the Basic Dren Cal Assault with dual sidearms for the next two weeks to bring awareness to the assault class.
I challenge all to leave your comfort and find an assault class and challenge yourself.

I would wait but have at least half or more in reserve SP so when the time comes and the assault is fixed you will have a head start. I am almost lvl 3 Cal Assault and its going to take near a million to max it.

I have been running the Amarr assault atleast once in almost every match I played since hotfix alpha but lets face it Amarr assault is the only viable one.
Glad to see someone taking a stand for the assault suit in game. I would be glad to squad up with you and film to try to bring even more awareness to those suits. Shoot me a message in game with the times you are on and we can catch up if you like.
Maybe we can get a squad of assaults only together for some good times as well.

I've been using Matari Assault suits since Uprising 1.2, and I still prefer them over an EZ-Mode Light Frame.

SDPUB can meet there. I am running dual sides which is SMG( due to the slow fire rate of the MAGSEC rounds sometimes fail to hit) and Bolt Pistol.

I'm actually within range right now, 1.9 million SP saved up, but yea, I'm definitely gonna wait. I want to see if CCP buffs or nerfs anything, plus there's a lot of other things I wouldn't mind having if I decide against the suit.

About the only thing my Minmatar assault has over a Calscout, is the clip bonus.
That allows me to hipfire and reliably kill somebody, as opposed to requiring multiple passes or ADS.
As for HP to Regen ratio...
Either 110 shield more, half the regen rate, or 22 shields more, and 35 - 40 shield recharge... So still slower.
Love even more the fact my Assault with 0 extenders has the same delay as a CalAssault with 4. Makes my suit feel auper gimped, yknow?
Aside from it being generally terrible, inside the Minmatar Suit Lineup, its' the least flawed suit(scout has no PG and dies instantly to HMG's even out to 33-45m, Commando at prototype, twin tanked to 900+ is still instagibbed by a Mlt Heavy spawning on an uplink i'm trying to kill, and Heavy dies to Locuses when into armor, and requires 2 plates just to match Amarr heavy's base stats. Logi is just generally terrible, and is just generally completely unfitting of the Minmatar playstyle)

You know, I've been GalAss since the first day it was introduced and haven't put it down. I would still like to squad/face you to see which of us is more in tune with the suit.
I also wouldn't mind talking fittings as I am having a hard time finding a set up I can run efficiently on a regular basis, as I have every build before 1.8. Perhaps all the scouts and their EWAR Dominance is what is hurting my play style; however if I give up any EHP for a CDamp any heavy worth his EZ-bake-a-merc minigun will eat me alive in seconds even at range.

Whenever I am on the field I am in a GalAss, usually ADV, with my AR Ionp/Toxin. I have been running experimental rep-tank fits lately though; I have a proto that gets 25 hp/s with 600+ EHP.

Gallente assaults have three bonuses. CPU/PG reduction for weapons, kick and dispersion while hip firing. Other assaults only have two. I propose that the cal assault get a reduction to kick for a 'third' bonus. I'm not sure what the amarr or minmatar should get for 'third' bonuses.
All assaults need EHP buffs. Shield tanked assaults need some tweaking to their base shield regen, and some reductions to their shield recharge / depleted recharge delays. It should not take *all* of a shield assaults high slots to fit an okay 'tank'.

I ******* love my Cko assault with 3 complex regulators 2 complex shield extenders and 2 enhanced energisers equipped with a klakatoa Rail rifle and mag sec . It's godly at range and if you keep your targets at approx 50 to 60 m with plenty of cover to duck and weave through then there's no stopping you.

Yes I have notice blaring problems with the assault so far. SDPUB chat channel if you want to talk shop and I am on.

When you are killed at 25M yes that is to much range. The SG like the NK should be close range no further than 10M. Make it a skill kill not I decloak I shoot you do to a glitch in hit detection I miss and you gun me down from 20+M.

Yes I agree but running dual sidearms and no room for damage mods I am having a hard time downing all the heavies. My SMG runs out of ammo before I can finish them off. I have my SMG to Pro 3 it should not take a clip and a half to down a heavy with no shields at HMG and you have the jump on them.

Gotta be pretty bad to be killed by a weapon outside of it's MAXIMUM range.
Shotty only hits to 20, and that's 1% efficiency.
Past 10m it's only doing 30%.
You have to be either reallyREALLY bad, or have been weakened to 25 or less HP before the shotty tried sniping you.
