Yeah, that's kinda my philosophy. I could spend 20 bucks on a movie, and get 2 hours of enjoyment out of it, or spend 20 bucks on Dust, and get hundreds of hours. And then go and dl the movie somewhere. Even if the game is dead, I still got my entertainment value out of it.

I appreciate where you are coming from, but I disagree that just because things didn't turn out as planned, that it means the game is no longer worth spending money on.
Look: I spent money on this game originally, not for the BPOs or the suits or the boosters or the promise of a 10 year lifecycle, but because as a 40 year old adult, I recognize the fact that not one damn thing in this life is free. Ever. Somebody, somewhere has to pay for this game, and if you have spent any amount of time enjoying it, you have the moral obligation to contribute, and if you are not, you are a bit of a mooch.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to make a mountain out of a molehill here -- as far as moral obligations go in the Grand Scheme of Things, it's pretty trivial -- it's about the same level as listening to NPR on your local public radio station, and then ignoring them during pledge week (i.e., you feel a little tingle of guilt, and then forget about it.) And I'm not really calling out all the high school players, or even the poor college kids who'd rather have booze money that put 10 bucks into a buggy game. I get that, because I was them at one point.
But if you are an employed adult with even a modest amount of disposable income, and you are still playing this game, there's no real excuse to stop supporting it monetarily if you continue to enjoy it, even now. Somebody's gotta pay for the servers and Rattati's hotfixes, and none of it is free. And if players continue contributing, the game will stay alive, if somewhat stunted, because CCP like money. Pretty simple.
