I just figured it out see here: ryd/bood
Okay, get level 3 in "Assault Rifle Operation", then get some other AR skills to level 3. After that, get into battle and start shooting. Aim towards the torso to avoid missing, and the results are instant. If they are annoying you a lot, then skill into the Scrambler Rifle.

I just used a scrambler rifle against a Caldari scout, and I saw bullets hitting the scout, but the scout did not take any damage. The scout wasn't even moving. I am irritated.
If this game was fun, I wouldn't be playing it.

i have seen this as well, i bring their shield down and their armor halfway and they stop losing armor scrambler bullets stop working. but the tac ar has no trouble taking all the armor

It's no secret that i am a caldari hater, but its more based on the fact the Caldari have better everything- shield cieling, shield recharge, delays, low slots.
The Caldari Scout on the other hand, i feel would be balanced. If it didnmt take 5x more bulets to drop.
I can regularly dance in front of HMG fire, sometimes even using Std Knives and kill a heavy, all while wearing my Basic Cal light.
Meanwhilr my Minja, can sprint past a heavy, jump over a railing, and die before i even hit the X button.
My Min Sentinel is simply a very, VERY bad Cal sent, but with a laughable 60 armor traded for like 100 shields.
Calscouts can tank Thale's Shots, even whilr having under 200 shields.
And yes, i keep track of their HP's.
Thale's sniper rifle: 349-ish damage. Caldari Scout- 249 shield, 87 armor. Body shot Damage i should do: 349 x .9(shield resist) 315
249 - 315 = 0 shield, 66 damage left over, brought back to 72 for purposes of next step: 87 armor, 72 base damage leftover, x1.1 = 79 Damage that SHOULD be inflicted: all but 8 armor.
He still had 100 shields left over, and took 3 body shots to drop.
How is THAT being butthurt? He is quite obviously not taking all the damage he shoul, and is thus able to tank 450 shield and just infinitank my Boundless HMG ona. dbl dmg modded Min Sent. Or ****, rven a ******* thale's.

Im sorry but I have to agree there is something funky about the cal scout. I can crush them when I'm hip firing but at range they seem damn near impossible to kill. I've even seen bullets hit them and they take zero damage. Could chalk that up to lag but it doesn't seem to be an issue with other scouts. Doesn't it seem odd that so many people have reported similar issues with cal scout hit detection? Who knows though, maybe it's just their ability to tank to crazy eHP while still being super fast AND having the best regen in the game AND being able to see everyone on the map AND being able to share that with the rest of their squad. Whatever it is, that **** is OP.
I am also a pure minmatar player like Lynn so it has been tiring seeing Caldari always so much better. That being said, it's really only the min scout that is behind Caldari currently. Other classes seem fine to me and I'd dare to say the min assault is better than the Caldari.

Lol, yeah i'm coming to like my Minassault even more.
Against scouts i can reliably spray my CR, without running out of clip, meanwhile my commando had to reload.
Against Heavies i can reliably hipfire an entire clip down that hallway, as the extra ammo i have means i can actually hope to kill someone.

Use a scrambler rifle if you have problems with the cal scout...seriously. Or maybe the TAR if you're a noob.

This is the reason I stopped using Assault Scrambler Rifle. I fire an entire clip on a medium or light suit and for some reason nothing is happening, its like my bullets are bouncing right back at me haha

My CR does just fine against Caldari Sentinels and Commandos.

So you're saying me unloading a full clip from a prof IV Duvolle with a complex damage mod on a Gal Assault at 6m of range, at a Caldari scout with 1/4th armor left, and not being to take it down before I reload doesn't sound funky?
Sights straight on target, shooting, and shooting, getting the armor hit sound effect, but no damage taken.
Caldari scouts are screwy.

Caldari scouts are screwy. What's crazy is that shields don't melt away like they vs a Assault/Commando/Logi/Sentinel suit. Once I get through the shields, the suit falls over dead(even if they have a armour plate or 2)
It happens on the STD, not so much on the ADV but the PRO...it ALWAYS happens on the Proto!
I can get the drop, use my CreoDron SG or Duvolle AR(or either a Gal Scout or Assault) and I still can't kill those things!

As much as I would like to say there is something wrong with the Caldari Scout`s hit detection - I actually just think that it is this games hit detection in general.
For some reason this does seem pronounced with the Caldari scout however that could just be down to the Caldari scout's popularity.
Someone recently had a video of recorded gameplay in DUST using a shotgun. At times he was missing by miles yet was still awarded hits and kills and then other times he would hit a Caldari scout directly head on yet no damage would be dealt at all.
So I do think it is still just the games general hit detection.

I have used Cal Scout since the first day they came out. I run with a ScR. I have zero problems killing other Cal scouts. And when I play against good players I die often enough, meaning they have zero problems killing me.
Killing any scout requires good aim and the ability to hit a staffing target, which many players in this game can't go.
I also want to point out I literally just got lvl 3 gal scout yesterday and my very first game with the adv gal scout with a CRW I went 45/3.
So does the gal scout have broken hit detection as well like these cal haters are claiming or do most players in this game have **** aim? I think we all now the answer to that question.

So I do think it is still just the games general hit detection. Some people forget that that the shotgun itself has the worse hit detection in the entire game. I have to shoot a little behind my opponent or in front to actually deal full damage.

The problem isn't Caldari Scouts, the problem is that every time a glitch or bug happens someone who hates -insert anything game related here- immediately gets tunnel vision and starts pointing the finger to try and get it nerfed.

The strange thing is I kill a cal scout with a scrambler almost every game, however the scrambler is very unreliable, if you experience the slightest bit of lag I don't recommended using the ScR, you will have to literally fire 2 shots to get the damage of 1 shot. This includes the assault version as well.
1 thing that would make me laugh is that if CCP come out and say there's nothing wrong with cal scout hit detection which I believe is the case and people are just finding excuses to cover up the usual hit detection issues in Dust. I am a cal scout. But I am not FOTM chase because I don't have the SP to spec full proto into a dropsuit , I was a cal scout from the start of 1.8 when the gallene where the favoured. |

As OP said, the only reliable method I've found of taking down Cal Scouts is the AR.
All other weapons tend to blue shield A LOT, but only in certain scenarios. Rapid Strafing makes them blue shield far more often than normal suits.

I am pretty sure it's the unfortunate confluence of people's proficiency not functioning + large, quickly-regenerating buffer that doesn't slow you down, rapid strafe and small hitbox as part of being a scout and DUST's increasingly bad lag since 1.8.
I have no problems killing CalScouts whether I'm using a ScR, AR, CR or HMG.

I just want to point out that the bullets coming out of your gun are a lie. The only thing you can trust is a hitmarker. Just try shooting an hmg at a stationary target halfway in the reticle circle. You'll see the bullets filling the circle and even hitting the target with the sound and shieldflares, but there won't be a hitmarker until it's close to the center.
I don't know about netcode and performance issues with using actual bullets, but if you have the first steps of having a target get hit by bullets and not have damage applied to it then the hit detection will feel bad right off the bat. Right now it just feels like someone is rolling a die when you shoot.
Ccp should, at least for project legion, get rid of hitscan for most weapons and have the individual bullets do the damage. |
