With big titles releasing in fall, is Dust 514 a good investment for the console gamer ? After playing Dust 514 for over a year and grinding SP for so long, all of my merc packs, boosters and time had been taken up on the hope of the game evolving on the PS3 , then being rebuilt on a new engine to be admired graphically with a more detailed Scfi world to play in on the PS4. With the announcement at Fan fest by CCP on LEGION being developed for the PC, my PS4 will never get the ultimate joy of logging me in to New Eden to have fun fighting on system planets and connecting wih EvE pilots to drop the dooms day weapon from a ship to quiet the gunfire on a surface planet that has been conquered by my fellow mercs.
Myself and many others haven't lost hope but most have. My PC at the moment has been upgraded with two Sapphire Radeon r9 290x, I7Quad Core dual clocked at 4.0 GHZ with 32.00GB of RAM and 1TB SSD DRIVE. With this amount of raw power my PC could easily run LEGION but this is the problem, there are very few gamers that will pay large amounts of money to run high end hardware to keep up with certain games on PC. PC gaming is expensive and alot more complex than just downloading a game to just play, PC specs have to be upgraded to maximize performance to satisfy the need to run any game you want on ultra settings.
Playstation 4 is a awesome platform to enjoy LEGION on. There is no optimization needed to game because consoles provide all of your needs right out of the box with a much larger community. I love PC but my PS4 will be played alot more than my PC because most of my friends like consoles. PS4 is affordable technology that can be pushed over the amount of years til the next leap. The PS4 will give you more bang for your buck with all it's technological specs dedicated to gaming. So why would LEGION not be developed for the PS4 when Dust 514 began on PS3 ?
With the hope of investing into a free to play shooter on the PS3 that I had hoped would go to the PS4 to introduce to my console friends on next gen, it looks like my investment was a let down, now I play Dust 514 to just pass the time til september 9th when I will become legend. Is Dust 514 a good investment for a console gamer ? Do you truly believe LEGION should be a PC title? When it's origins began on the PS3. Would love to hear your thoughts. |

Don't get me wrong... I think Legion would be better on the PS4, but it just makes more sense for it to be a PC game.
But right now, Legion still isn't greenlit. All that was shown at Fanfest was something they threw together just to show us an example of what we can expect from Legion. That was one level, and it felt very scripted (i.e. there was only one path through the menus), even if you could walk around in that map.
We won't see a playable form of this game for at least another year if not two...and beta won't show up until at least two years or more from now. I'm slowly putting together my PC, but I'm not having to decide between 2015 games and Legion.
As for Dust...I'm not buying any more boosters until I know how they will be transferring my sp over.

I'm gonna play until it falls apart, but I feel as though buying 2 retail cuts of the game is enough support for one merc.

If your not planning on moving over to pc when Legion arrives then there's absolutely no reason why you shouldn't keep investing time and money in dust, Dust 514 is going nowhere, and thousands of people will continue to enjoy playing it on the ps3,
I wish people would stop with all this doom and gloom over a game called Legion which may or may not happen. I for one will be staying with dust and hopefully one day dust or Legion will be on ps4, I will never buy a pc. |

Maybe you will be able to play legion on your Playstation 3 if you reset it to factory defaults, don't update the system, and then install Linux?

yep consoles are the center stage for shooters. CCP as a company is struggling to stay afloat. They fired saberwing and 50+ other employees. Idk why they chose to invest against the trend. Develop on PC, shift to ps4 is a much more sensible idea.

As a console gamer,wouldn't invest any more money at this time, too many things in flux. Even if I was a Pc guy, probably wouldn't. That being said, I do I feel I got my money's worth from my vet and elite packs(purchased Aug 2013). Dust has kept me occupied(wife says obsessed) and entertained for almost a year. They move it to PS4, then we'll see. The again I might be occupied(obsessed) with Destiny by then.

There are tutorials for literally everything.
It doesn't mean the game takes much thought. It's incredibly simple and straight forward, with most tactics devolving into who abuses the most broken thing most. It's a brute force game that requires extremely little finesse or forethought.
