there is a lot of talk on these forums about "nerf/buff" scouts and "nerf/buff" heavies, but when the assault suit is mentioned the conversation is always , and only about "buff." if you look at the history of the dust 514 forums I don't believe you will ever find a thread that says the assault suit is OP. in fact the only medium suit variant that ever gets cries for the nerf bat is the logi.
doesn't this tell you something CCP?
when deployed the battlefield is littered with scouts and heavies, and peppered with logies, but the assault suit is hardly ever seen.
DO the metrics lie?
is it possible the scouts and heavies are so difficult to balance because there is a piece of the puzzle missing: the assault suit?
I understand theres an issue with going through sony to make changes, keeping them server side, but I don't really understand why.
I don't think the assaults as well as the harmony between all suits can be achieved without a serious overhaul.
heavies need to slow down, scouts need to have there overall max ehp reduced and assaults.... well they need quite a bit...
assaults need a racial buff to light and side arm dmg, to make their set up unique they need an extra grenade slot, and a slight buff to passive scans.
I wont presume to tell you the numbers, it isn't my strong point, but I can tell you from playing since the day open beta dropped and being a capable nerf I can feel this in bones its the right direction.
the squeaky wheel gets the grease so the community must be loud about getting some kind of improvement to the assault suit for hot fix Charlie.
but there must be a plan to get a true balance to the way all the suits co exist, and that update will have to be a big one, there simply doesn't seem to be any other way.

At least, I remember the CalAssault being pretty awesome back then.
Dat vk.1 doe (I think? I barely even remember now...)
I remember the cal logi being QQed over... but not the assault. |

I don't know if the assault would need a buff to shields or armor if they had an appropriate buff to dmg.
but I would say they need either a dmg or ehp buff... but not both, and it would be more fitting to the assault to have a dmg buff. |

The shields kick back in , in less than a second and recharge at about 7 hp per second it's great when equipped with a klakatoa Rail rifle and you have plenty of cover to duck and weave through.
you can do the same in a logi suit and have multiple equip slots.
the problem is the assault doesn't have it's own role, that another suit like the scout or logi can do better.

I run around with a MinAss and I generally just die because I stick out more than most heavies do. I say we should get better Camo first and foremost. Besides, isn't white and red the general colors for medics? Even if it's just on their sleeve.
doesn't matter what color your suit is if the chevron above your head is still bright red....this is a non issue. |

They need a slight buff, not an overall. The Assault is designed to be a jack of all trades - meaning it can do the job of all of the other suits (just not as well) allowing you to adapt to different situations without looking for a supply depot. That's my take anyway.
I respectfully disagree... the assault suit is THE slayer class, and as such should be designed accordingly... in all else it is a jack of trades... but it must be the best frontline slayer... right now scouts are... |

Sentinels are the kings of the battlefield right now, though. Mainly because you don't need any brain cells to get a decent amount of WP with them
I would say the reason you notice more assault suits lately is because we have had an influx of new players who don't know any better...
but, if you can recall, were these assault wearing mercs easy kills?
were they useful blueberries?
were they on top of the boards? did go positive k/d?
I'm gonna go on a limb here and say probably not...
the proof is in the performance... |

well I play about 6 hours a day and this isn't my experience...I will take you at your word.
I will say when I do see a guy running assault who isn't new, it's usually a MD user. they do pretty well... but that's more the choice of weapon than suit imo. |

Cody Sietz wrote:More overall ehp, more CPU/PG for Cal/Gal and a extra grenade.
the problem with more pg/cpu is we would have a rebirth of the cal logi suit... remember that?
I don't think the assault suit should be so dominate. just much more functional than it is now. it needs uniqueness, a reason to put that suit on over a heavy or a scout or a logi.
in all my time here I have not seen much good come from pg/cpu nerf buff... not saying it hasn't ever worked, but in the case of the assault I'm not sure it's the right thing to do.
