I remember that video. Remove squad share and buff assaults. That should be the first step, then adjust from there.
EDIT: They are a problem, but just not as much. For instance, I can fool scouts by going around with long distance, but with scanners I can get scanned WAY out there (still is a problem for me).

Me. Get's really old trying to play any match against an organized squad since you know there are 6 people out there who ALWAYS know when you are close to them and can pop out and ambush you at any moment.
Is this a pettition? Because I'd like to be first to volunteer my name to any petition that ends this ****. Shared squad vision was left behind in Chromosome for a reason, now every scrub who wanted to play easymode has it while the rest of us are basically playing THEIR game.
I'd like people to blip on their radar every 5-10 seconds instead, this **** is pretty ******* stupid.
Please pardon the language, been awake for 40 hours and I'm pissy as **** right now.

Nope not true. I could strap one complex profile damp on my assault and avoid all but proto scanners. In 1.8, I'd need two just to get below the cal scouts normal scan precision at lvl 5. If that cal scout then puts just one precision enhancer on I'm screwed. Something needs to be done. Intel is the most powerful asset on the battlefield. We learned this with active scanners, we've learned this with 1.8.
I think a good start would be to end squad shared passive scans. This allows active scanners to have a niche as well.
Secondly I like the idea of not showing enemy direction from passive scans.

I think the point was that current passive scans are just as bad as actives used to be. Sure, you're just lighting them up for your squad and not your whole team, but it is a passive bonus always on without ever requiring you to put your gun down and do something that prevents you from running or defending yourself, and passively scans all non-scouts without damps equipped.
At the very least, squad vision needs to die. And possibly the removal of directional information from all non-active scans as well.

I think the way to fix passive scans and make them more tactical in their use is to adjust their scanning abilities based on your movement.
Couching and Not moving = current passive scans
Couching and moving = current passive scans + 15 resolution (making it harder to detect things
Standing and not moving = current passive scans + 25 (making it much harder to detect things
Standing and running (not sprinting) = current passive scans + 30
Sprinting = Current passive scans + 45 (A scanner scout still sees things)
Your scan profile also increases by the same amount for doing all of the above actions.

Worse.
There is no cool down.
There is no time taken to pirouette.
There is no limit to duration.
There is no message informing you that you have been scanned.
The only draw back is range, otherwise its way worse.

But once you do that's it. At least even the tankiest GalLogi was vulnerable for a moment while he scanned - CalScout always sees you coming.

They are worse in many ways. But everyone carried actives. Not everyone has passives. |
