Hello forums, its been a while!
First off, let me say that CCP has made some great changes over the last month or two so keep up the good work. I feel this is a prime opportunity to discuss vehicle collision damage.
What are the forums thoughts on vehicle collision damage? I feel collision damage is much to high for every vehicle except tanks. Tanks are able to roll over one and other yet I see people using tanked out Gallente dropships to crash into Pythons to take them out.
I feel this is wrong. Either both dropships are destroyed or neither.
I am of the opinion that all vehicle damage should be reduced. It is equally frustrating when an LAV only has to tap the very corner edge of a tank going 2MPH and the LAV explodes.

Its a stupid model. I hate it. Though I did 'ram' one of those Djinn guys in a PC yesterday (he popped out of nowhere and hit me from my angle).
Its a crap tactic. I had a few nice people attempt to ram me when I was resupplying in the spawn.. they burned when they missed me. Blaze of defeat.
Damage down, and LAVs need a natural resistance to tank auto explosion.
If you find an issue and I stumble upon your thread, I will do my darnedest to get the issue known.

All of the collision damages are broken for sure. Dropships/RDVs can fly past you with no impact possibly sending you to 0/0, buildings can be rammed at full speed possibly taking you out and possibly just scratching your shields.
All I want to see is some consistency.

I know right - I have to activate 2 shield hardners before landing on the MCC to prevent insta dying! |

If I remember correctly dropship collision damage was dialed in like this because people used to squat infantry by landing on them. I'm unsure whether this would still work with the proliferation of prototype forgeguns these days and the vehicle repulsion that has been added recently. It's something to keep an eye on though. I wouldn't want that tactic to make a return. |

I wouldn't want that tactic to make a return. yeah I have squished a few guys in my day but honestly unless your a sniper you can avoid it really easy. Though I do understand your concern, but I don't think the op is suggesting we swing it to the complete other side. Collision damage should still hurt, especially if your afterburning or nitroing straight into a wall/tank etc. Though it shouldn't strip a third of my shields when I do a soft landing with my gear out at a supply depot to restock. Nor should I be insta exploding when a suicide dropship lightly taps me, it should take a serious ram not just "hahahahaha I touch you, you die" doubly so when its a tap on a non essential part of the dropship that should be minimal damage at most.
Doesn't have to be changed so dropships can just play bumper cars with everything (like gods foot) but it should be changed so that slight taps and soft landings don't hurt you so bad/make you explode instantly. Just needs a slight tweak really. |

Yea thats just it.
Touching on what you and others have said, some consistency would be nice. Right now its as if doing 5mph into something is the same as going 100mph into them. Of course at max speed in a dropship or LAV if you hit something - you explode. I don't think people are here to contest that.
Its the small knocks and bumps, the collision damage between certain vehicles. TLDR - Vehicles need to be able to withstand knocks and bumps. Ramming should be a suicide tactic. If you are going to kamikaze! you go full speed - and both of you die.

Shields (dropships, I haven't had a problem in my tank) take far more damage than armor. Like, a lot more. I can ram my Incubus into a bloody wall and come out with most of my armor, do the same with similar ehp fits in a Python and loose almost, if not all, of my shields easy.
1.7 had the best collision mechanic. I don't know why, but it was great.

It should require a full speed impact for a DS to take out another ds/ads. Yet as it stands now you can simply tap an ADS with a militia DS and kill the ADS.
If a tank could simply run into another tank and kill it the tanker community would be up in arms yet they are perfectly happy this can type of ramming can happen in the air.

Yes, collision damage is too much. I had a HAV reverse into my stopped LAV yesterday and I blew up.
The other day, I was in my Python directly above another Python. We barely tapped and we both came crashing into the ground, burning wrecks.

welp
they got rid of that thing where if you stand in front of the tank it pushes you really fast for 500 meters until it stops and lets you escape |
