according to New Eden standards Gallente and Caldari share Hybrid weapons so why do our bonuses only apply to 1 and why are they crap.
My bad but I hate that bonus why do we have that we are long range that give out alot of damage so they give us not range not damage not even mag bonus but........reload -_-
And then the Gallente bonus just makes it worse dispersion would make it harder to aim in medium and short range.

As long as the bonuses can be well achieved then sharing them is fine.....but can a slow firing long range precision weapon and a short ranged less accurate high RoF weapon really share meaningful benefits?

Same way in EVE. Ship bonuses are rails for cal and blaster for gal. Also, no need to offer bonuses to two types vs. one for other races just because both type weapons are defined as Hybrid. Wish CCP would rename one or the other to avoid confusion.

Caldari: Increase to falloff range (Falloff does not equal effective range) on Hybrid weapons? (Can't think of a bonus to Railguns without making them wtf OP)

I personally really like the reload bonus (CalAssault 5, RR Prof 3 Reload 3).
I find it pretty useful for getting back into ADS and keeping sustained damage downrange. Helps me stay "focused". Plus it makes the Magsec and Bolt Pistol significantly easier to use. What about it is not to like? I can't imagine my Caldari suit getting bonuses to Gallente weapons. Why?
Gallente bonus is ok, but I think it falls short compared to the other Assault bonuses.
My Suggestion: Give Assaults 2 racial (keep fitting for class) weapon-based bonuses. Instant buff, two birds.
Amarr: Bonus to Laser Weapon Heat Build-up and also Overheat Cooldown. Caldari: Bonus to Hybrid Weapon (Rail) Reload and also Range Gallente: Bonus to Hybrid Weapon (Blaster) Dispersion and also Rate of Fire Minmatar: Bonus to Projectile Weapon and also Explosive Weapon Magazine Capacity
The only problem I would forsee with this is the Minmatar Assault getting pretty scary. But they kinda need a buff of some kind anyway. More dakka seems appropriate in exchange for lower EHP.

Ahh I like that but gallente dispersion should be replaced with dmg if it is close range

The Capsuleer ships were created in a day when the Gallente/Caldari were allies, thus they shared bonuses as they helped each other build their weapons' systems.
The Ground forces' armaments which were manufactured SPECIFICALLY for Dust merc's consumption was wayyy after Gal/Cal started their war- thus they don't know how to operate each oter's weaponry as well.
This was discussed way, way long ago.
Example: Plasma Cannon is a 1 shot plasma launcher, the heat generated by 1 shot is sufficient to kill its' shooter upon firing, thus it wasn't concieved until AFTER the idea to place nuclear reactors in our spines and put shielding systems powerful enough to withstand that heat were implemented.
Rail rifles i am guessing, drained so much 'Capacitor' from the host that it was impractical to run one prior to nuclear reactor imbued Mercs, which was only possible AFTER the Implant's discovery, which is WAAAYYY after Gal/Cal split.

Perhaps I'm getting forgetful in my old age here but doesn't the Cal assault bonus only affect light weapons ie. not the magsec or the bolt pistol?

Yes. The recoil bonus can be useful on the Rail Rifle and the reload bonus can be useful on the AR.
Rail Rifle because it has annoying recoil (it's not bad, but it's annoying sometimes), and the AR because it's a CQC weapon with the second slowest reload time.
You DO NOT want a slow reload time on a CQC weapon.

Actually I don't believe that is true.
The Capsule was given to the Caldari by the Jove in response to the Federations overwhelming use of Drones in their militaries, the Caldari were already at war with the Gallente at this point.
Perhaps you mean the hulls?
I know some are a decade old but not many would have been around or in use since the beginning of the schism.

as a gallente assaulter. the bonus actually tightens highfire and reduces kick allowing more shots to land on the intended target and is great for brawling in cqc. es[pecially with the breach rifle which has tighter hip-fire and less disperseion than the assault variant.
the way I see it the gallente assault has the better bonus's out of the assault suits.
what people don't take into account with the assault suit bonus's is that they are about APPLYING damage. not having increased like commandos.

Besides, there are many railgun-specific Caldari ships. Rails are a secondary to the Caldari like Drones are a secondary to the Gallente. As in not really.

If you want to limit the Minmatar striking fear into everyone with their 13 round Assault MD and their 11 round Freedom's and what not.. simply make it a two-part bonus with it being Projectile Magazine and Explosive Reserve Capacity.
If you find an issue and I stumble upon your thread, I will do my darnedest to get the issue known.

I don't think you understand.
Caldari produce long range hybrid rail guns. Gallante produce short range hybrid plasma weaponry.
When they say they share theynare referring to 1 of 2 things. 1) unlike Amarr and Minmatar, they are both considered hybrid weapons, hybrid-projectile and hybrid-energy respectively.
2) In EvE caldari ships are oft seen with a few gallante weapon banks and vice versa, because they make up for the downfalls of each other.
3) They do not have the same technology, 1 fires plasma and 1 fires large chunks of metal that is why the bonuses are different.

I think the RoF is good on the AR, maybe give Gallente a bonus to reps and reactive plate repairs.

On my 9m SP alt I've specced prof. 1 into RR's and ran 3 matches. 15/0, 31/2, 27/5 (lots of tanks in the last match) with next to no core skills. That thing is ridiculous as it is right now so no to damage buffs, no to range buffs, and no to mag bonus.
The RR operates, without a Calassault, like it should on a Cal assault 5. It has a small clip, so a reload speed bonus is about all you can give it without making it crazy OP. If you have more suggestions for a different bonus that wont make it crazy OP I'm more than happy to hear ideas. Good luck with that though unless you are going to go into further fitting bonuses beyond the other assault suits.

I thought you used armor as a way to counter Minmatar or Guristas, but speed was used to counter Caldari/Amarr and any other long ranged clans.

I think Dumbfire Missile Launchers would be more realistic. DAMN, if we could have those AV would be far easier--in stead of having Stupid"Smart" Swarm Launchers that often time hit peaks or cliffs or rocks instead of the intended target.
Dumbfire missiles or rockets can be calculated and aimed (given the range is decent) to hit target just when a tank passes into the intended area.
I wallow in pools of blood and wash myself anew, I throw away my ugly self in order to become something beautiful...

Its not just hybrid. Also as someone that has the reload bonus maxed for both the rail and mag sec I can tell you that skill has saved me many many times. Having a 50% faster reload than the other guy is all the diffrence in the world. |
