So many very small changes, yet such a vastly superior game.
I am very delighted that I now have come full circle, my favored beta fitting of shield tanked scout suit with TAC AR is now viable (at least for pub games) and just as much fun as I remembered it to be. Without it being any sort of OP IMO.
We can only speculate if its merely a case of previous incompetence or simply a way to enforce players to skill other racial guns or the next new shiny for more booster sale. Did they ever intend for it to be balanced at all? (I can't really remember the game ever being as balanced as it is right now, though there still are some small matters to adress.)
In any case, you're definately making the game a lot better just by tweaking stuff, where were you before release man? You could have saved a lot of players from leaving this game if you'd been in charge since early beta....
An odd compliment perhaps, but a compliment non the less....
Its just too bad the game finally is approaching "getting gud" after it in effect is dead... |

I know what this game has to offer, more so than most, I however chose to be more invested in the game however.

You're ignorant. You know, before CCP Rattati, there were others who were very much involved and produced results like Rattati. Logibro, Sabrewing, Wolf, and many others have visited these forums and provided results from feedback.
Simply what happened, after FF, CCP Rattati became the PR guy.
Again, not trying to take anything away from CCP Rattati because he has done a great job, but to dismiss others who were here before him doing the same thing is quite absurd.
For the record, too. If you were here since beta, then you would know that it was the community doing that got the TAC AR nerf. The ARs period were nerfed because of the short sighted community.

Did he promise actual content?
The game is dead. Just let it go. Don't try and celebrate the janitor for not spilling the mop water.

"produced results like Rattati" - LOL indeed.
They piled on more content and always introduced new bugs and new FOTM OP stuff one way or another, build after build, While breaking some stuff so badly so that they more or less ceased to be used at all.
Now we're talking about straight up improvements to the game rather than merely changing the game.
Has "he broken anything" yet? As far as I can tell its simply just gotten better, which can't be said about any of the previous builds, including and especially concerning the launch itself.... |

It's always one of you guys floating around...
So the idea of having Combat Rifles is not good? How about Rail Rifles? Plasma Cannons? All racial varient suits? The maps we play on? The pre and post of Scannerinas? Daily Login bonuses? Cloaks? Making scouts a force? Heavies returning to their prime? The offering of PC? Corporations? Corporation roles? Subtle light effects such as lamp post and shading on weapons?
Some of you guys view things in a very childish manner. While not all things have not been perfect from the gate (and why should we expect such? Aren't we all human?), Dust 514 has grown very much from closed beta. Many changes has come on its road to finding its identity. Sometimes we helped it. Sometimes we hindered it.
But you guys act like all of sudden this game has gotten good. Some things just were brought back to its original status before even he was a presence on these forums.
Again, give credit where credit is due instead of the "he's a good doggie, the rest are bad doggies". It's unfair to all who have committed themselves to this project over time.

Again, give credit where credit is due instead of the "he's a good doggie, the rest are bad doggies". It's unfair to all who have committed themselves to this project over time. The game didn't suddenly get good. However, the sense of immediacy and the ability to provide sensible hotfixes in a timely manner is a vast improvement that we needed while they gave us patches without content, numerous bugs, and completely unreasonable adjustments. There was no "laser focused" development post Chromosome. There was a lot of mismanaged resources (a common problem under Hilmar) that caused this game to fizzle out when it should've been primed to revolutionize a few genres. We didn't hinder the progress, a bunch of guys who knew jack **** about developing games, FPS specifically, couldn't produce sensible logic from the mass amounts of data and feedback they were provided with. What made it worse was the lack of accountability and smugness that accompanied every response. Rattati's reign has only proven how much could have been done long ago and how swiftly those simple changes could have been implemented while CCP kept us at bay with SoonGäó and other falsehoods and cutesy catch phrases.

All magnificent examples of grotesquely unbalanced weapons until rattati got involved. In fact your whole list just proves the OPs point. Yes, there was content, but whoever was in charge of balancing it did a horrible job time and time again. If they had brought that content AND actually got someone competent to balance it the game wouldve been much better. This is obvious. |

You guys either smoke too much weed or have short memories. All weapons have been going through a balancing act based on the feedback on the community before Rattati was a strong presence on these forums.
The AR is proof of such. The scanners are proof of such The tanks are proof of such Swarms being nerfed are proof such
All those above things based on community feedback.
So you saying Saberwing didn't do what Rattati is accomplishing now? That Wolf, with his weapons development thread, didn't do the same thing? That Logibro didn't stop by forums, listen to feedback and implement changes based on such?

Ratatti isn't 'double buffing' things in an inappropriate manner- yes, he fixed Swarm Proficiency AND fixed Incubus Resistances, but those are 2 completely unrelated things that effect each other.
Buffing AR 2% thn nerfing CR 2%? Yes, a double buff. No, not vastly inappropriate- he made VERY SMALL tweaks, hoping to find a way to make both weapons still viable.
Before him, it pretty much went 'oh, swarms are a bit too good' 'ok, let's nerf them by 45%, an then buff tsnks by 400% efficacy.'
See the difference?
Before ratatti, things that troubled Game Design(roof sniping, proper stacking penalties being shown in fitting menu) were simply removed because they were incompetent, or Hilmar was incompetent.
Things have never been better, and yes, we COULD have thos ewonderful lighting effects, or proper EWAR, but that's on Rouge, not Ratatti- his job is simply number swapping and modifying.
If we had a dev whose job was to fix bugs and another whose job was to introduce racial weaponry, then we could have 2 seperate patching cycles: the current hotfix system, AND a regular patching system to address bugs/skin changes/ new content.

That Logibro didn't stop by forums, listen to feedback and implement changes based on such? C'mon man I'm not saying they didn't do any worthwhile balancing, of course they did plenty. OP laser, Calogi, Flaylock, LLAV etc all met their ends, eventually. But the rate was much slower - most of these were OP for months without anything being done about them. Likewise, AR was dominated by CR and RR for six months and maybe never would have got addressed under the ancien regime. The few times they did respond in a reasonable timeframe they usually implemented such extreme double or treble nerfs (e.g. TAC AR RoF and clip) that they just created a new imbalance of UPness.
As much as anything the improved rate and quality of balancing may be due to the fact that there is now actually a 'balance guy'. Previously balance seemed to be treated as something to be dealt with in a more piecemeal fashion by several different people, who may not share an overall vision for the game. So that might be a lesson for CCP to learn going forward. |

You didn't have Allotek hives before when???
3 basic armor plates, 1 proto repper and a set of these wonderful hives?
I fail to see the problem.... I mean, when an Ammar Assault with its slow movement could do it fairly well I fail to see why a Gallente Asault couldn't, or indeed; can't. |
