The Division shall be what dust should have been.

Everything about destiny reminds me of what dust should have been...and the thing is dusts guns, vehicles, and economy/fitting system is a better core than what destiny has to offer......
Now I know bungie is spending tons of money on this game but I feel like if CCP would have just put some more money and thought into the actual gameplay and graphics......they would've made the game that every fps player wants.....


Will legion do this? Maybe....but the thing is its on PC....so IDK

The mechanics in Destiny are what DUST's should have been. Most fps players out there would even let the graphics slide if the controls and core mechanics were professionally done.

DUST does have New Eden going for it, though.

I'd say if CCP could deliver something close to Bungie's alpha-grade controls and core fps mechanics(movement and aiming, hitbox fidelity, environment interaction) that would be good enough for DUST/Legion to carve a respectable chunk out of the fps market.

Provided they put it on console, ofc.

I plan on trying it out but I can not do PC gaming. M/KB is not what I want to game with so yea it has killed the potential for me.

No way on PC would the pub matches be filled to the brim of clueless players. At least there will be some better competition.

The playerbase is just as bad as Dust, except you get to add hackers into the mix.

Since it will be easier for CCP to integrate Legion with Eve, expect a serious incentive for Eve players to get an account and do some AFK farming.

CCP = Mediocre at Any PVE aspect in their history. Any PVE in EVE is 1 dimensional..

CCP =Mediocre at making a Casual gaming experience.. They just don't build casual gaming experiences...

CCP = The Kings at Large scale PVP with weight and meaning.

CCP = Kings of building Meta gaming and politics into their games.

CCP = King of player inspired and ran economies.


What Bungie and CCP have for strengths and weaknesses are completely polar opposite. Who they build games are completely opposite.

Destiny had a budget of over 500 million dollars with a staff of over 250 people.

CCP Shanghai is 70 people now after growth? Development budget not even touching that.

Sadly alot of DUST's and then CCP's problems stems right from Upper Management and old guard employee's being protected from their mistakes instead of being held accountable.

I have already invested over $600 directly to CCP and another 5-600 on headsets and recording equipment specifically for Dust.

Forgive me if I do not want to invest in a couple hundred dollar keyboard or controller that will still leave me at a disadvantage to the guys that actually PC game. I am simply enjoying Dust until its gone while I quietly sit back and watch for where I move to once me and Legion do not get along. The only reason I am willing to try Legion is because my work computer is of higher specs than all but the best gaming rigs out there (except for the graphics card) so currently it will not cost me anything to try it out.

CCP is not king of anything you mentioned... the players built the politics and meta gaming, that's all player created content right there.
large scale pvp was being done and done well in DAOC, and when eve first came out you had only a handful of ships and a bunch of empty space, took them years to lay the ground work for players to have large scale events, and it was the goons who gave eve players the imagination to realize them. not ccp.

ccp has blundered many times over the years with the economy... its always been the players who set it right.

sorry if ccp is the king of anything, its creating a game in a genre that was vapid for a decade, it's the only reason why so many migrate to eve. and they don't do it anywhere near as well as it could be done.

I spent 15 bucks on a merc pack.

The meta gaming aspect was completely ran and accepted by CCP.. Gaming companies at the time created specific guidlines in their games to stop this behavior while CCP actively promoted it.

Same with politics, Yes players played in the political sandbox in owning and expanding assets, but the box that held the sand that players built castles out of was built by CCP.

Goons where the pioneers of **** for large scale PVP, that was ASCN. Goons where the pioneer's of throwing hundreds of cheap ships endlessly at better shiped, skilled and organized pvp groups. Still is the same way.

And DAOC had EVE size PVP seriously? EVE was a single shard game world.. there was no PVP server's... RP servers... PVE servers... The servers in DAOC where limited to 4k players... then only three NPC factions that you fought for... Like seriously? Then we can look at you know, right now? EVE is the king at large scale pvp.

When I started playing EVE back in beta.. We had players from 3 of the main space based MMO's at the time.. And let's not even start about EA and Earth and Beyond. I forever will hate EA for that.

CCP was on the fast track to running out of money thanks to this game. They spent too much of what they had in a poor investment. Its just a sad case of them overestimating what they could do on the PS3. I mean, don't get me wrong, the PS3 was a powerful console for its time, but for what CCP wants to do with Dust, its just not enough. Between Dust and the other botched game CCP was working on, its no wonder they seemed to have run out of money. That's why they had to fire a lot of people not long ago. That's why they've halted development for the other game they had, and they've severely cut development on Dust.

Legion being on PC is a GREAT THING. I mean, don't get me wrong, I would have loved them to put it on the PS4 instead for hardware balancing reasons. But being on PC will allow them to develop the game at a much greater rate then before. Not to mention I believe there is more money to be had on the PC. At least initially anyway.

Just because Destiny is getting a record amount of money pumped into it does not mean the game is going to be that great. GTA V had 100's of millions of dollars put into it, but the game still had a ton of flaws, and theres still a lot of lack luster things about it. So to think that money is the only thing they did wrong, is just ludicrous. The main flaw with their development wasn't because they lacked the funding. It was because they lacked the hardware needed to run the game they wanted to make. That's why Legion is taking priority over Dust now. There is no limit with PC's.

And at the end of the day. Everything CCP does is for the sake of making more money for their company. Legion will be and HAS TO BE successful for them. Its the best option as far as innovation goes in regards to the EVE universe. EVE online is a great game, but its becoming clear now that CCP is running out innovative new content they can add to the game. Yes they can balance things, add new ships/missions ect.... but theres only so much they can do to add to the space side of its universe.

Legion opens up a whole new playground for them to innovate with. To give their player base the option to sift through twice as much content then they have at hand currently.

...well dust doesn't have new eden going for it anymore ... and legion isn't green lit yet so new eden may not have legion....

all new eden is anyway is a made up world, the best lore wasn't even made by CCP, at least not exclusively.. who's to say destiny's world wont be far richer than new Eden's?

if the world and lore is at least as in depth, what candle could Dust ever hope to hold to destiny?

For Destiny it's lack of sandbox - the goons and many other content-generators could never accomplish what they did in EVE in Destiny. No developer will allow that in a mainstream game.

Destiny looks great and i'm looking forward to playing it, but as an arcade-style entertainment.

Compared to the loss/betrayal/metalevel manipulations that exist in New Eden, however, Destiny has nothing to offer. That's what attracted many of us to EVE after all - our decisions had real and sometime painful consequences and there was no safety net.

What attracts me to Destiny is the quality/fidelity with which the core fps mechanics have been implemented and the overall quality of the code. In Destiny i know i won't be fighting buggy/subpar code - all limitations on performance will be my own.
