After attempting to kill tanks with the proto plasma cannon for... quite some time, I switched to my proto swarms for comparison.
There is no comparison.
The swarm launcher wrecks tanker face if they make a mistake (damage mod and prof), while the plasma cannon can't even take out a tanker sitting still.
And that's with a Gallente commando, ya know, the one with the 10% damage bonus to the plasma cannon?
Just to make sure CCP is aware that the PLC needs more work.

I don't remember such a thing happening today.
Most likely I was in my assault AV suit (I rarely use the commando), which is quite fragile actually, and since it's an assault suit, only has a sidearm as backup. (Probably my syndicate SMG)

Against shield tankers the PLC is perfect to solo tanks.
Swarm launcher works on both.
Plasma Cannon is worse against shield tanks than the SL is against shield tanks.
The amount of skill to use a PLC is 100x than that of an SL, so it's also a bad effort --> Reward ratio.
It's simply NOT viable, at all.
It's only use is to do that little bit of damage before activating a remote.

Ah, I still don't remember.
Though yesterday I may have been a bit drunk... slightly... because summer vacation started ;P
