You are wrong, and foolish.
Like True, I have a lot of SP invested in both HAVs and infantry.
I spend most of my time avoiding the tanks on foot these days.
It's not hard.

I guess there is more open space to mount a counter attack.
However 5 tanks on one side in a match is still dumb.
If you think tanking is I-Win button now you .... welp..... ugh this community who can't accept they just got beaten by something they personally don't like...... Frankly I am going to say this to you. If you don't want to lose mount your own armoured attack. If the enemy is willing to commit X amount of assets to a fight then you need to be, or have a strategy to defeat them.... if not then you deserve to lose. Yep and you are what's ruining this game . I have 2.5 mil SP and no av yet. I guess I should just quit then according to you I should be able to kill tanks. Lol Can we say elite dumb ass. Dead-Eye, First...i understand your frustration. Tell you what, find me in game and I'll run AV with you and I'll see if i can show you a few quick tricks and we'll see if we can inflict some rage on vehicle operators. Second... True Adamance is elite because he deserves the moniker through skill and experience. He is most assuredly not a dumbass and one of the more respected folks in the forums. Instead of taking a cheap swipe if you asked he might have tried to give you some pointers.
Nah, he's a dumbass :)
Decent tanker tho :)
But seriously, it doesn't take a lot of SP to kill a tank. The less you have, of course, the harder it gets, but if I were to fit out a new olayer's AV setup it'd probably include Flux grenades, REs and an SL. Proxes too, if you can manage them.
Tactically, if you're running a scout suit then you can place the proxes on a heavily used road and camp them with an SL; try to make the driver aware that you're AVing him; you want him to think he's better off driving over the proxes than staying to fight.
If that's not possible, REs placed on the road detonated under a tank works nicely, in conjunction with some supplementary damage, as does placing them on the hull and doing the same (although the risks are rather greater of course).
Before firing the swarm launcher or detonating remotes, try to flux off as many shields as you can.
If you're a PLC user tactics are similar but you'll want AV nades instead of flux.
Don't expect to solo tanks easily with a single damage source until you get up to the Assault Forge Guns, especially the Ishukone. Which is to say that you should try to bring a reliable friend. (Even with IAFG it helps.)

Depends on the maps but Flux / AV grenade combo can be pretty effective. If you've got someone sharp enough to get REs and proxies in play you can certainly set some really spiffy anti-vehicle ambushes. I usually use AV nades to kill LAVs or finish off tanks....and the occasional overconfident ADS pilot has gotten smacked with them as well. I haven't use the PLC but a buddy that runs GalMando loves it for both AV and AI work.
This too, and in FW you can actually set REs on top of proxes to auto-detonate them.
I just want to emphasise one thing - one damage source is not going to cut it. You need to be able to use something aside from swarms or REs. If you're forging that neccesitates getting close up for AV nades (hold onto them for after you break shields).

Isn't this what av wanted? Why is it sad? No, no it's not. Not even remotely.
I'm sorry, but this might not be what you wanted, but it's sure as hell what you asked for.
