I know you can't really apply IRL examples to a game such as DUST, just seems to be the go to on the forums. The point I was trying to make is ramming is a valid tactic, if somewhat annoying. Also that an ADS trades tank for offensive capability.
I do believe however collision damage should at least be reduced so it isn't instant death, instead relying on pilot skill to recover from the impact. |

So I was thinking that I would ask CCP to add the same fair tactics to infantry players, to make sure the community is treated equally no matter their playstyle. So if a militia infantry player touches a proto dropsuit player on his team or the enemy team, then the proto player dies and loses his suit every time, and the militia player dies 25% of the time. Also to keep it fair, you can't get revived.
I'll Give CCP Rattati a call tomorrow, see If we can get this added to Hot fix charlie, although Delta seems more likely. Now I hink of it, while I'm talking to him I'll ask him to also makes sure that If an infantry player spawns on an uplink near you, the spawn pad kills any players nearby. Also to keep it fair, lets set it so infantry cannot actually look up. While we are at it, I'll also ask that within 5 seconds of an infantry player spawning, if another player shoots him the other player can use the suit of the infantry he killed and his weapon, leaving the infantry without a suit and gun at all.
Well that's a long winded way of saying you don't approve of dropship ramming, to be honest neither do I. It's a cheap tactic but a valid one nonetheless. Collision damage needs changing so that you don't turn into an instant fireball and the attacker also takes consistent damage, allowing the victim time to recover and retaliate/escape.
If it is a tactic you want removed (I assume it is), how would you propose to do so? As long as there is collision damage there will always be people willing to use it for an easy kill. Even if it was reduced so it took several attempts, it wouldn't deter some people. If collision is removed completely then we end up with dropships bumping and grinding until someone gets lucky and causes the other to crash. |
