This may have changed, but I heard assaults in Legion are getting 2 light weapons, and CCP is unsure of what to do with commandos now.
Why not take the chance to redo all the dropsuits in general?
Let's look at (apparently) intended roles, and see how we could improve them:
Note: please read all proposed changes before saying one breaks a dropsuit; some things are being taken away from one and given to another.
Assaults: Obviously, CCP wants assaults to be
shocktroops. I think the current idea of having 2 light weapons, and the current assault mobility, works well with this. However, I'm not quite sure at the moment where they should stand otherwise.
Sentinels: Let's look at the name: sentinel. This obviously implies guarding, NOT heavy attack and AV, as they currently seem. Their almost-nonexistent passive scanners also don't work well for guarding. I say we exchange their heavy weapon slot with a light weapon, then buff the **** out of scan precision and range. Range should be about that of current scouts, while precision should be unmatched.
Commandos: Reading the description, commandos are intended as suppression fighters. In order for this to happen, they need to have the biggest guns: therefore they lose their 2 light weapon slots, and exchange them for a heavy weapon and a sidearm. Their lower health will make them more balanced behind a heavy weapon as well.
Scouts: Scouts are scouts. But if sentinels are the kings of scan precision, what will scouts have? Scan range, of course. This will allow them to actually scout without compromising the rest of the fitting.
Aside from that, scouts have always looked to me like logis that are specialized in indirect support, rather than repping. I say remove their sidearms, give them an additional equipment slot, and improvements to indirect-support equipment (REs, Active scanners pÇîwhich should be caldari, for the recordpÇì, Uplinks, and whatever else CCP wants to throw in.
Logis: While scouts are indirect support, logis are direct support. I feel like they really need higher health to help them achieve this, first off. Second, their bonuses should more directly support their allies: Nanite injectors, repair tools, shield generators (SoonGäó), and more unspecified un-added equipment (we've got an alpha and a beta to add some, people)
Any additions are highly encouraged.
