Hello everyone,
SirManBoy here declaring my candidacy for
CPM1.
MY LOVE AFFAIR WITH DUST 514
While starting off as just an occasional retreat from a game called MAG, Dust 514 has since gone on to become my #1 love in gaming. More than a year and over $600 USD invested in my character later, it still brings me an immense amount of joy and satisfaction to play this game and cap out my character each week. Much of the passion I have for this game can be attributed to the tremendous community I'm a part of as a member of Molon Labe (special shout outs to Hawkin Pete, Thor Odinson42, yruphct, ZEROBLOOM, X-eon, and Mobius Kaethis). I'm very fortunate to play with such an awesome and dedicated group of people, many of whom I legitimately consider friends.
Apart from the relationships that it's allowed me to forge, I also love Dust 514 because it soothes my itch for character development. In my opinion, Dust has done a better job than any other game I have ever played at giving me the deep character development experience necessary to express a play style perfectly suited to my personality. To play my logi character in Dust 514 is to play a role that resonates with me as a person--to be someone who routinely makes sacrifices for the betterment of others, for the good of the group.
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
I am a very happy high school social studies teacher with previous experience in real estate sales, collections, and loss mitigation for Enterprise Rent-a-Car. I currently instruct an Advanced Placement Macroeconomics course, as well as a pre-IB course called Global Studies.
MY MISSION AS A MEMBER OF CPM1
My primary mission as a member of the CPM will be to advocate for game mode mechanics that allow underdogs, players and corps alike, to find a niche in the game that makes them relevant and more competitive. For example, one of my biggest frustrations with Dust has been with the talent bottleneck that is Planetary Conquest. In its current form, PC is simply a 16-player vs. 16-player contest of who has the better gun game. Under these conditions, there is little hope for larger corps with average talent to compete against smaller corps with elite players. Other factors need to be accounted for, not the least of which is size.
