Alright  I have told this story before.
Was around 1.2-.3 I think
Map was 5 point with A on small bridge connecting D and E with 2 point facility (gal facility with large green mushroon) south of the bridge. Our spawn was D side.
I'm flying my python with a crew of 3, 2 assaults and one scout. Cal assault with snotty and amarr with SCR, gal scout with ishukone sniper.
Enemies secure the map pretty early on, blues are contesting alpha when sniper requests dropoff on E installation (box building over D and C on line harvest) drop him off and he takes up a position to fire at A/E then squad leader gives the green light at a run on the installation. Drop them a little south of C (5 point A) and provide air recon and support.
5 minutes elapse.
Get a call from sniper,
Sniper: uhhhh numnutz I think I'm gonna need an extract...
Imediatly set vector to E installation
Me: you think you need an extract or need extract?
Sniper: NOW! OH **** NEED EXTRACT NOW! RIGHT NOW!
Me: copy inbound now stand by.
I came up from the south to see him between the smaller boxes on the roof A side, back to the wall with three assaults around him in a tight semi circle like an execution. I was bracing for the worst when they all opened fire with their plasma rifles. My sniper pulled a Neo and dodge most of the shots while completely duking out the reds, one so bad he was spinning in circles while the other two got a glimpse as he bolted towards the middle and around the corner box null cannon side closer to A. They started chasing him.
Sniper: EVAC! OH GOD EVAC! **** SHIT ****!
I was hovering over supply depo side, not enough time to get a shot on both of them and he needs EVAC now. F*** it. Throw my nose down and slam on the thrusters and come in between the middle section of the roof between null cannon side top boxes so close I squished the closest pursuing red between the bottom of my dropship and the roof (not hitting the roof mind you) just as he got a shot off on my sniper, then banked hard right as soon as my engines were clear and brought her up along the side of the roof in one elegant maneuver.
The second pursuing red finally got a bead on him as he jumped off the roof just barely making it into my dropship then switched seats as I hit max thrusters and started swinging it around hard right for a gun run. However my sniper instead decided to jump out as I turned and flew up through the air and landed on the hill to the north of A slides down it then whipped around, croutched leveled his rifle and popped two reds who watched this from the ground at E and tried to chase him down when he jumped. While I was Firring missiles suppressing the infantry who quickly retreated under the E installation.
Came down for a landing in the trench and picked him up.
Squad lead: facility secure ready for puck up marking LZ
In the road towards their ground spawn gate, soft touch down and extract squad, lifting up and started accelerating away then victory screen.
Turns out the two man assault squad secured the entire facility, shot gunner going on an 18 man killing spree. Our actions turned the entire game around.
All missions accomplished returning to base, skyshark one out.
Finest example of dropshipping I've had in my career.
Oh another funny moment, same sniper on 5 point map, facility with the orbital cannon rings above B and the acid under A. Flying over the tallest building casually just going to provide fire support for B when sniper jumps out shouting,
Sniper: NUMNUTZ BRING 'ER AROUND!
I bank hard left and catch him on the edge of my fov. Land, croutch and fire ine one swift movement and kill a sniper on the mountains I can't even see.
Me: dude, wtf, who did you even kill?!
Sniper: looked like a sniper in the mountains.
Me: how the **** did you even see him?!
Sniper: I dunno. Just did.
