Sigourney Reever wrote:Years before this news, these confirmations, and unfortunately, the layoffs, it was clear to anyone who paid attention, that Executive Management was the source of most of the missteps by CCP.
Unfortunately, not too much has changed as far as I can tell.
People are holding out for Legion (and Valkyrie), and yet we see the EXACT same problems: Redundant Resources, Lack of Vision for Overall Gameplay, utter Arrogance and ignorance by Executive Staff (a la Fanfest).
This "refocusing" on the Eve universe is the same story as '09 when Dust was announced (to WoD fan's dismay) and the same story when Walking in Stations (and MonocleGate) failed, and the same Story when Dust was 'released' and the same story today.
You had me CCP. You had a bunch of friends of mine. We were giving you $. Happily.
We're not really into it now, and we know you're not going to change until the people who make your decisions for you are replaced.
I'm looking for a job.

"I once saw him looking over the shoulder of a programmer at some bit of User Interface the poor guy had hacked together. While he took a lot of flack for the DUST 514 keynote, I have seen enough recordings of him talking about the games in smaller events at Fan Fest to be confident that he has a clear vision for the game. That part made me laugh. What kind of drugs is that CCP manager on???

Layoffs source: http://www.polygon.com/2014/6/5/5782190/ccp-iceland-layoffs-eve-onlineMore in depth article: http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014/jun/05/world-of-darkness-the-inside-story-mmo-ccp-white-wolfThis article worries me. Is this how management handles Dust 514 aswell? Abandoning work, shifting employees to other projects? Didn't that already happen at fanfest when some Dust 514 employees switched over to work on legion? Exactly how many people are working on Dust 514 and how many are working on legion? All those years of work on WOD now feel like a major waste of time as many Dust players feel at this point. Perhaps the layoffs did not affect Dust 514 or legion directly but it serves as another fine example of how management at CCP works. The players faith in management must be restored or else none of us will ever truly rest easy. The game Development and how you handle a company that needs cuts are 2 diffrent things. Sometimes you must chew off your arm to get out of the trap. This is how any company works. Laying people off canceling projects, restructure sometimes are simply necessary for survival. It took them 9 years to figure out their arm was in a trap and they had to cut it off? seriously... I understand what you are saying but in light of this situation.. IT MAKES NO SENSE!
Is your defense "they finally did the right thing?" because it is still a bad one. Did you read the entire article?

Eko Sol wrote:CCP Falcon wrote:Hey Guys,
As some of you may have heard today, thereGÇÖs been reports of job cuts here at CCP in the gaming media. As part of our strategy to focus on the EVE Universe, today we conducted a restructuring that resulted in the layoff of 49 people in our publishing organization.
This has been a really tough decision for us to make, and though itGÇÖs hard to say goodbye to our friends and family, this action concludes the process we started several months ago to restructure CCP.
CCP has provided severance packages and job placement assistance for all those employees who are affected, and we wish them all the best for the future.
In terms of what this means for our games, development teams and plans for EVE Online, EVE: Valkyrie, DUST 514, and GÇ£Project LegionGÇ¥ are not impacted by the restructuring that has taken place today.
If you'd like to discuss what's happened today, feel free to do so in this thread.
Thanks,
- F Sorry, but this is a joke. How to give reasonable severance packages and help people get jobs when you can't fix a sprint glitch in a FPS game? How many game publishers need to be successful from crowdsourcing before CCP does the same thing? I'm sick of companies calling it a restructuring. Why do leadership keep their jobs but not the ones working 15 hours a week for chump change? It's a joke. Restructuring = poor leaderships paychecks will get smaller if they don't fire people I have to agree. I don't really blame the dev's anymore or as much as I used too. Once I started realizing the REAL problem, which was management and the higher ups then all I can really feel for the dev's is just being sorry for them. They are nice guys and take alot of **** from the community and they have to continue going on with a smile. Getting pressured by both the player base and the horrible higher ups... and for what? chump change as you put it!
I just read this... http://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/CCP-Reviews-E159347.htm
and every one says the exact same thing under cons... MANAGEMENT IS THE PROBLEM. and this is not going back to just recently. reviews from this year to years and many years ago all say the same thing. The problem has existed for a long time and nothing has been done.
CCP has the funding to creating triple A games. CCP has the developer work force... The one thing CCP doesn't have is an actual brain at the helm.
