Just wanted to ask, has there been any consideration to drastically increase game assets in Legion by adding in old assets we saw in the Carbon builds, or things from popular concept art that never saw the light of day?
For example This Image Here
Look at that sexy rifle. We've all seen it in old videos, wouldn't it be nice to actually have it in game?
Just like this Gallente-made (by the looks of it) bullet shooter, a great deal of immersion could be gained by representing different weapon types through the different races. I think a lot of DUST players who aren't familiar with eve lore look at the game and say "oh, so Caldari only use railguns, Gallente only use blasters", which is not only untrue in EVE gameplay, but completely nonsensical and non-canonical in terms of personal weaponry. (A nation's army would not restrict themselves to one weapon system, nor would manufacturers only produce one type of weapon)
I know I'm not the only one who has always wanted to see racial variety across (almost) all types of weapons. Gallente and Minmatar rail weapons (the Mass Driver is by definition a rail / gauss weapon, using magnetic fields to fire its grenades) Caldari plasma, gauss, and projectile rifles, Amarr plasma weaponry, etc. Maybe even unique and exotic weapon types like the Vowrtek (weapon that fires intense, directed shockwaves)
Going further still, what about vehicles? We know fighter aircraft will be coming, and we've seen the art, but how about more tank models, or unique turret designs (unique Caldari and Gallente blaster and rail turrets for example, not just the same turret dropped on a different chassis)
How about This Rail Turret, This Heavy Tank, or This Personnel Carrier?
I know Legion has a long way to go before thought is even GIVEN to things like this, but I felt starting this discussion could only help. Immersion is a huge part of what DUST/Legion hopes to achieve, and expanding on racial varieties for weapons and equipment will only help that.
Playing since 1st batch of closed beta keys.

these are ll points that i think have need to be said for a while and i am glad to see someone is finally saying them (my own post are usualy ignored) wondering were you found thous detailed concept art pics for gallente MAV and caldari HAV. and yes how about the weapon types or lack of weapon variants?
look at these file http://www.dust514-france.fr/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/flTzL2v.png
in that image i clearly see a ammar sniper, minmatar sniper, another light AV weapon and maby what could be a gallente mass-driver like weapon?

1: That is the old PR. They could make it into another gun, but it probably won't happen.
2: Gauss Rifle could be a LMG (iirc the thing has a 100 round bullet count).
3: That's the old large rail. Kinda pointless to put that in
4: That's the old Sagaris, not a different HAV size.
5: SCV is never going to happen; otherwise it'll be OP as all hell. That thing was made for the RTS, not dust. Same for the Sagaris.

I just want to Minmatar LAV, and Dropship. The Minmatar dunbuggy (see the pick at the top of the Hotfix Alpha Dev Blog) and the Dropship which looks like a forklift/tug from the scrapyard was modified for military use.
I know people who really want to see the Amarr HAV and Dropship as well.
I would also like to see MAVGÇÖs as personnel carriers.

Haha, thanks True. I think immersion is a far larger part of this game's (successful) future than some realize.
As for your points Godin, the assets may have been 'old PR' but that doesn't discount their potential for use, or even as replacement for current assets simply from an art perspective. In fact, I think it would be a WASTE if these art pieces didn't get more recognition.
You can't tell me that old rail turret, or that Sagaris model, don't look a hundred times better than what we have currently.

I didn't say it was PR, I just said it was old As for a waste, that happens on a daily basis when developing assets for games. iirc there was at least 8 SCR designs (all looked nice tbh), yet there was only one that got through. Basically the same concept.
As for how they look, that's an opinion, not a fact. If you're asking for my opinion, the old saggy is ugly, but I like the turret. Over the new rail? Nope, as I like both equally. the new one however makes the most sense design wise, and that's why they went with that one. Should it be in the game as well? Depends. Is there a need for it?

I have to say their older Assets for nearly everything related to Dust 514 was better designed and looked cooler, specifically because they were working with Carbon.
I am expecting significant advancements in the quality of future assets being deployed in future. While its true these changes do not need to be deployed right off of the bat for Legion I wholly support the development and inclusion of more content that fills out the New Eden experience for mercenaries.
As Dagger Two said the immersive elements are more important that most people realise and will be in future for legion.

My point is that it is probably not needed.
Also, we're not getting Carbon, so there's still the problem of porting over the assets.

Yeah some of the earlier concept art was pretty cool, sometimes I think the get alittle eager and try to over due it.
It would be awesome to have the single shot grenade launchers on rifles though.

Weapon rigging will probably allow for that (if they give it to us).

He is suggesting a recycling and use of that asset as well as additional assets for the various racial groups so as to incorporate all forms of damage type into each racial groups arsenal.

Probably because most people associate the currently established the technologies synonymous with the four main groups themselves and don't realise that projectile weapons are used by all nations, Hybrid tech between Caldari and Gallente is essentially interchangeable and used by bother militaries, etc, etc etc.
TL;DR lack of lore knowledge.....oh and Godin is just a downer.
