Drones? Sure. I think making NPC trooper underpowered is uncalled for, though. Their equipment, eHP, etc. should be no different than ours; if they are going to be in the game, they need to follow the same rules we do. Thing is we don't want them to be too overpowered, if they are fitted with advanced or protogear, then that side would have an unfair advantage against players still in basic gear when fighting NPCs. I also think your point is to introduce the difference between us Immortals and Mortal NPC's.
As clones we do stand at 7 feet tall and are much more durable and combat effective.

I can see it now.
You stand there holding the line against waves of these tiny soldiers. You think you are a badass, damn son you are immortal and a certified badass....you've downed what? Ten enemies in rapid succession, your squad is slapping each other on the back..... but then you see something...it gives you pause.
Oh **** its another waves......but there are massive soldiers in Heavy armour with them..... oh god you realise with horror...suddenly a tank shell takes you through the face and you wake up sweating in your CRU....

This is exactly what I had pictured. same... well I was the one shooting the HAV shooting the blaster at True
