Why?
Fot several reasons: -With as OP as proto locus grenades will be getting in alpha, players deserve a chance to escape A single 4k isk grenade killing a 150k+ isk medium frame in one shot isn't exactly fair, especially if a scout does a "run-by"
-There already is a grenade made for this purpose, the Thukker contact grenade. Why use a Thukker when you can get the same effect from a core locus,do more damage, and even have an extra grenade left over.
-Grenades can be filled with nanos, which will re-ignite "cook spamming".

No. It's fair because you have to take time to cook the grenade. I've been killed countless of times while cooking a grenade.

No. in order to get the high instant alpha, you'll have to plan the nade use, throw it accurately AND survive the painful seconds alive. That's one thing in dust which actually takes a good amount of player skill.
that is not the case with contact nades - when they had near identical stats they were nasty as hell in anyone's hands, hence the 90% of forum community complaining about em.
Fun fact: Cooked grenades can't be spammed as such as there's the prep time.

No, cooking a grenade and throwing it accurately is just as much a skill as holding down R1 and aiming. It seems like many people want to limit the way others play to the way they do.
Because, that's why.

A Thukker is for that moment during a gunfight when "oh **** I need to reload, but I'll just explode this in your face before I do that."

Absolutely not. Cooking grenades is a big part of every shooter, and the reality is, grenades are a weapon you should expect to die from, especially when timed and thrown perfectly.
I'd like to be your CPM1 candidate

I actually liked BF3 for the sole reason that you COULDN'T cook grenades.
Why? You don't cook grenades in real life. You chuck that thing the moment you pull the pin.
Grenades are supposed to be used to remove targets from cover, not to be an instant kill option. People clustering on an objective? Toss a nade. They now have to move or die. You force them from cover and mow them down when they leave.
Grenades should be a TOOL, not a WEAPON.
Same thing goes with Remote explosives.

Sorry, but the grenade probably costs more than the suit it killed.

1: You can cook grenades irl.
2: You could cook (didn't lower the timer though) nades in BF3.

Same thing goes with Remote explosives. ... your logic eats itself. The reason they scatter is BECAUSE of the possibility of an instant kill. If grenades/REs weren't threatening, people would eat the damage, keeping calm and carrying on. |
