Reload speed is really critical, which is why I use a min commando suit for my SL fit. 20% faster at lvl 4 (+8% dmg) is very noticable. |

Also, don't discount the forge gun. I use an ADV forge gun on my Templar BPO sentinel and instantly become a lot more threatening to a pilot - in a suit that costs 1/2 as much as the proto SL does by itself. (Before I had the BPO I used the mlt heavy which is dirt cheap and nearly as effective)
Obviously it's not as flexible as, say, a commando would be, but in the right situation it's just so much more effective.
Yeah, I agree. going lvl 5 seems like poor ROI.

prof 4, reload 4, and min commando 4 (with CR to prof 4) and you have dirty Harry on some serious performance drugs.

(I'm not proud of that but without any Amarr AV weapons it's all I got. I'm hoping they will switch the swarms to getting a bonus to the calmando, then I can at least RP in peace as Khanid.)
If they switch the bonus to calmando, they had better respec anyone who speced into the minmando because there are many people that only speced into that suit (me included) for the SL bonus.

Yeah, I know.
For the record, I rarely ask for respecs. I have to date not demanded a respec to weapons despite specing into weapons that have been nerfed into irrelevance (flaylock) or have bugs that render them too difficult to use (laser rifle seems to ignore the aim sensitivity which is critical to be low when using a DS3 controller). To spend 2 million sp skilling into a suit for a specific purpose and have the bonus change not because of balancing but to align a bonus to racial weapon categories rather than weapon dmg type would be brutal and just not necessary. |

What? LR rulez dude, It's one of the few things still keeping me playing! Turn down your sensitivity.
I loved using the LR, so I spent 1+ mill sp on it after the 1.8 respec. I stopped using it because I had such a hard time staying on target. I put my sensitivity to 20 and my aim still jumps around. I tried putting it much higher and saw no difference, whereas when I used my CR the sensitivity had very clearly changed. Other people on the forums at the time complained of similar issues. Admittedly, I haven't tried using it in months.

Admittedly, I haven't tried using it in months. Much better now. I drop it on my Amarr assault and turn into a (only slightly) mobile heavy-melting laser turret. Get killed entirely too often by f*cking cloaked shotty scouts but so fun!Best part is after they learn the fear of God (and his cleansing light). Sentinels nowadays (esp gallente) are so used to being invincible with their resistances that they tend to underestimate the LR and try to fire back. Melt them once or twice and suddenly they fear you. Watching a sentinel scurry lumbering for cover never gets old!
I would love to see a light AV weapon that was a literal cannon version of the laser rifle. Big charge time, lots of damage if it overheated and kicks perpetually like a mull (so you'd have a really hard time tracking infantry with it but an upclose tank or dropship would not be a problem). Would need to be careful so it didn't also become a super anti-infantry weapon, but if they could pull it off that would be so much fun to use and make the Amar commando fit a viable AV choice.
