I've been noticing a lot of players topping the match rankings while wearing heavy suits and driving tanks. I have literally been tracking players during matches to make these observations.
I have noted that the #1 ranking heavy/tank combo typically earns approx. 2500 - 3500 WP per match.
What gear do you wear and what tactics do you use when you rank #1?
I'm interested in whether or not the heavy/tank combo is the trump card of Dust.

Uplink spam fit at the beginning of every match. Scan/damp/slay fit during the majority of match. Switch to uplink suit throughout match if need be. Switch to nanohive/triagehive fit throughout match if need be.
Top leaderboards the majority of the time. Its rare that I have below 3,000 WPs on any given match. Granted that is based on Domination and Skirmish game modes.
Honestly the trump card of Dust is being a good, versatile, player. Theres no specific suit, vehicle, or any kind of combo that will trump all others. If you play smart, play to help the team, play for the objective and play for the win, you will come out on top the majority of the time. |

Light dropsuit. My starting fit has dual uplinks (quantum and flux) and a code breaking module. I drop 4 uplinks and hack as many points as I can before I die, then spawn in an alt suit carrying R-9 uplinks, if needed. Through out the match I'll ensure that I refresh uplinks as they go, and may have up to 7 up at once.
In a good match I hit 2500 or above, best is 3700 in a pub skimish. But I am regularly beaten by tankers who spend the first half of the match destroying unhacked equipment and the second half killing infantry.

Yes, uplink spamming at the beginning of the match is the strategy I use as well. I use dropsuits < 10K ISK and generally finish between 1400 - 2500 WP.
To scouts, do you use a cloaked shotty? I've been using a range/precision G-1 scout with a RR for my mid game take downs. Or swap to a BPO gal assault with RR if the battle is too intense.
What is a triagehive fit? Do you simply spam triage hives for extra WP?

I use the cloak for movement and hacking on a M/1, and normally pack an assault CR and nova knives for ranged/close quarters. But I'm also not much of a slayer.

I use the ACR, sometimes RR on long distance maps, and occasionally the AR when I'm feeling frisky (due to buying 1,000 Duvolles 2 weeks before the announcement of the CR and RR release. Sigh.).
My triagehive fit consists of a Wiyrkomi Triage Nanohive and an Allotek Nanohive (R). I switch to this fit when the logis on my team, or in my squad, simply aren't doing their job properly. I'll place these hives near pinch points to the objective, where the majority of the firefights happen, not directly on Supply Depots like the majority of the moronic WP farmers do. Granted I don't do this for the WP but to help support the team. The longer they stay alive at the objective the longer I stay alive at the objective. The longer we hold the objective the better chance we have of winning.
Honestly if you're having trouble topping the leaderboards send me an in game mail. I can help you with proper suit fits, which will make you a better asset to your team. As well as letting you run with us and see how we work and perhaps you can pick up a few pointers along the way. |

Someone dropping an orbital solely for you should be considered as a compliment. Almost like them crying and whining because you are pissing them off or interfering with their FUN. Wear it like a badge of honor. IF they are dumb enough to waste an orbital on a single person rather than go for mass kills you are doing something right. |

I don't know how I top the leaderboards in pub matches as often as I do. I'm a terribad tryhard scrub who abuses uplinks, scouts, cloaks, shotguns, and CRs.
That's about it I guess, and more uplinks. Uplinks everwhere. Twenty fielded at one time is enough to get you at least 1000 WP alone if your team is terrible.
Oh, and make sure to blow up turret installations, and while we're at it, throw on some crappy injectors and a crappy rep tool. There's some decent WP to be had from them.

The combo I have been seeing lately is 2+ Proto HMG Gal Sentinels flying ADS with Proto missiles. Once you make a dent in them, they land and all the Proto HMG Sentinels hop out and mow you down. This has been the Try Hardiest thing I've seen in a hot minute. |

My gunners usually rank above me, they currently wear heavy suits because dropships missile turrets now have a 50% chance to explode in your face. Fat is also good for when your getting shot at. I don't mind going 1-0 and third on our team with 2500 wp |

Gathered 2500 in a match running my standard logi, with proto rep and adv gear/standard. But I nearly ALWAYS top the charts when I run my tank. Imagine that!

Dunno but I can say that I often Tank...... it's what I do in Dust 514..... its what I will do in Legion because I like it.
I also use Commando's.....and no one ever said they were OP.
However outscoring HAV isn't hard, Logi's do amazing jobs of it, Squad Leaders do good jobs of it. Skilled AV can do it......anyone can do it.

I used to pop turrets at the beginning of every match. Stopped doing it once mlt tanks were able to do the same thing but 10x faster.
Tanks only top the boards because they get points for damaging vehicles Domination matches the player who tops the board is the one who is running the most well place uplinks. It's hard for a heavy to be on top unless everyone else sucks and you're getting 40+ kills. A good logistics can stay on top as long as they aren't just doing one thing (dropping hives, putting down links, repairing, lots of revives), and as long as the team isn't stomping the enemy (i.e. a balanced fight).
Generally if you want to earn a lot of warpoints you have to multitask as much as possible. Instead of carrying nanohives on your assault, why not bring some uplinks...or a repair tool if you're running with heavies. Switch out at supply depots and have multiple fittings with different items depending on the situation.
