Trirep maddies are a thing but for how long is anyone's guess.
The other new favorites popping up are the anti tri rep maddies, namely poorman's sica.

There isn't much to experiment with anymore. A lot of mods were taken out in 1.7 so there aren't very many experimental fits.
Big things to skill into are shield/ armor upgrades to 5 (only armor for Madrugars but armor to at least 3 for Gunnlogies as they can easily be dual tanked) and fitting to as high as you need (probably 3 but use protofits.com to make a few fits and see what you need).
For armor, the armor repair skill is WAY OP. The shield variant (reduced depleted time) can be useful but isn't critical.
Vehicle core upgrades (I thinks that's the name) to 5 gets you complex afterburners, nitrous, PG, and CPU upgrades.
Core management skills will help active mods a lot, I recommend to 4 at first if you're tight on SP.
Hardeners aren't as good as they were and, in my opinion, aren't worth using anymore. Shield boosters are glitches to where they won't replenish hp when taking damage
Right now, rail guns are OP as crap. Literally with just 1 damage mod they can kill any fit before overheating (a triple damage mod Gunnlogi can kill a supply depot in one overheat). Blasters are very good against infantry and shield tanks but are difficult to out dps armor repairs. Missiles can kill almost any armor tank instantly but struggle against well fit shield tanks.
The FotM fits are a triple repair Madrugar with blaster (good against infantry, not so much vehicles) and double or triple damage modded armor tanked Gunnlogi (AV, not good against infantry). I personally don't like tanks too much, but I use a dual tanked Gunnlogi with railgun and nitrous; missiles for FotM triple rep tanks.

The armor repairer skill is not OP even more so after the hardener nerf and you do need you shield replenishing skill .

railgun/ blaster fitting lvl 5 , core grid management lvl 5, engine core calibration lvl5, shield upgrades lvl5 and armour upgrades lvl5. shield and armour fitting optimizations . go from there and refine your skills in turrets, shield, armor and damage mod to make your tank more efficiant and more comfortable to fit. |

Those maxed triple rep Maddies seem to be able to rep just enough during the time it takes to launch all 12 missiles that they survive with a sliver of armor. I even almost lost a battle against an Ion Cannon Maddy which left me with about a couple hundred armor.
Seriously, I won't stop saying that blasters need a damage nerf. They shouldn't be competitive opponents in tank engagements because they just shouldn't be. There should be no tank able to slaughter infantry AND successfully defend itself from other tanks specifically designed to destroy it.
But if turrets are to remain as they are (both blasters and railguns being OP), then missiles should gain two more missiles per clip. There are 14 missile tubes on the launcher model, why do I get to use only 12 of them?? And could they possibly even get slight passive tracking against vehicles to make hitting vehicles at range with rapid fire POSSIBLE? Because currently it's impossible to stay on target with rapid fire. Perhaps give us a skill that allows for passive tracking (1-1.5 degrees of passive tracking for every 100 meters or so per level).

Trust me . Wow I just realized that armor tanks still get better skills than shield tanks. Armor repair efficacy AND shield depleted delay reduction.
If you lose that shield, not a problem as you're an armor tank, though you'd like that buffer back as quickly as possible. Shield tank on the other hand, are generally dead if they lose that shield.

You do tank Harpyja so that's expected .
Good call .
I've been using HAV's since I started in 1.6 and shield tanks have always been inferior .

Why are you coming back? The game is dead, invest in a gaming PC if you wanna play what Dust was supposed to be.
Or you can do like most of us and troll the forums without playing much at all anymore, warning people about how there is no more client-side improvements for this game. What you got is what you get, and only balance from here until the server is shut down.
EDIT: Actually don't get a PC rig, and throw rotten tomatos at CCP offices, and call all dev/cpm/etc bad names, and generally riot in the forums when given a chance. CCP shouldn't get another penny from you or anyone else. Uninstall and keep your sanity. |

Ahh, but it's not fair for a blaster tank to take on a missle tank. That's op right, not the fact one missle burst does 7,000 + damage with mods and prof up. But if the blaster gets away or doesn't drop to the 12 missle burst... That's so funny. So missiles should rule? |

Depends.
If you want to kill infantry, Ion Maddy is your best bet.
Fit triple reps - so maxed fitting optimisation for blasters and plates.
If you want to kill tanks, Particle Gunnlogi. Again, maxed fitting optimisation. Armour skills are useful here. Anyone who claims that shield tanks are somehow 'inferior' is plain wrong; the fitting space and damage mod slots cannot be overlooked.
Popular fitting is 2x damage mods, 1x hardener, 1x 120mm plate (preferably complex, but enhanced works too; it's what I use) and the biggest repairer you can still fit. Or possibly another plate, if you're into moving like a snail (compared to everyone else).

I think triple rep maddies are overrated. The vast majority of tank losses are to large rails, which reppers offer little defence against. |
