The problem with the cloak was the fact that you could shoot before you were uncloaked and now since CCP is fixing that, I find the nerf to duration pointless. I don't really care about the dampening as much even though 5% at ADV and 10% at PRO is kind of low.
There is no need to nerf the duration of the cloak, it was perfectly fine so please don't over nerf the cloak to extinction like you did to the flaylock.
Using an STD cloak, you can't do jack in 15 seconds 45 seconds are proto is pretty lame becuase a proto cloak takes up like 20 PG and 60 CPU and ontop on o that, 45 seconds isn't much either. Listen to me CCP. You are going to make a grave mistake.
Side conversation. STD and ADV gear becomes more useless by the day. Thanks for the 350 damage that STD locus grenades do. I'm sure they'll be usefull at fending off proto's while they throw Protos at me |

I think the reduction to cloak active time is a good thing. They should be more of a situational thing. You shouldn't be able to cover large distances fully cloaked in my opinion. "Oh there's this guy way out in the open. I'm going to run to him fully cloaked because I can, then kill him."
I think it's stupid when I'm in the open melting people's faces off with my laser rifle at 100 meters when a scout uncloaks next to me and kills me. I'm not saying that I don't want to be killed. I'm saying that scouts can just do too many things with the cloak now, and typically better than anyone else. If you want to kill me, get a sniper for that.
You'll still be able to cover the 100 meters with a standard cloak, but you'll no longer be able to come from a completely different direction 2-300 meters out, giving me a chance to spot your near invisible blue shimmer.

What? dude, check on the current hotfix alpha numbers. they aren't changing the decloak time. just the stealth bonus and duration.
if anything it's making the cloak a tool of combat as they're removing the part where it's used as an active dampener, something highly important if it's to be a tool of covert movement

Uh. No. If you want the cloak to be a tool of close quarters combat then keep lowering the duration. The scenario you just described stops a cloaked user from running around through a fortified area to place uplinks or hack objectives. Reducing duration pushes it towards being a tool for hit-and-run combat.
And if you think the blue shimmer is near invisible, try playing in 720p that shimmer is so easy to spot.

Anyways, as a scout a user of cloaks, I'm all for the nerfs. The duration could've been left alone, but it's whatever. The dB should be removed completely, in my opinion.
Also, i recall a 1 second firing delay after uncloaking. I wonder how that's going to work out. If that doesn't work, i suggest replacing the current decloaking animation with an instantaneous one. As soon as you press any button, the cloak flashes off the player. No delay.

It allowed Gallente Scouts to be invisible to everything with a STD cloak and an ENH Dampner...
If scouts wanted to be invisible in radars, they would wear dampners like a real scout before 1.8. |

Yeah could use a variant or two of the cloak:
Tactical Cloak with 30-60-90 time with a 3s no-fire lock Cloak with 15-30-45 with a 1s firing lock (what its changing to) Assault Cloak 10-20-30 with a 0.5s firing lock. Breach Cloak with a dampening bonus perhaps?
...or something like that. What is needed is more options for sure. The cloak has several distinct uses in Dust that a single 'one-size-fits-all' variant could never satisfy. |
