(Not ranking me the OP. I'm a scrub, that's easy)
No, I want to get a historical perspective here. Give me your ranking of all the OP (mostly FOTM) weapons and suits of Dust. Pleas provide a brief rationale as well.
Here is your list. Remember that they should be ranked at the height of their power, I will give a time frame for some but not all.
Weapons: flaylock, TAR, beta LR, contact nade, 1.8 CR, 1.7 RR, 1.6 ScR, 1.8 HMG, beta HMG.
Suits: cal logi, gal logi, gal scout, cal scout.
My ranking is in the next post.

Got me there. I just missed the dumbfire swarms so I can't comment from personal experience.

Weapons:
1) 1.7 RR 2) Flaylock 3) TAC AR/Standard AR 4) Grenades in general before the 1.8 nerf to amount 5) Viziam LR 6) 1.8 Assault CR (it wasn't nerfed as hard as everything else in 1.8, which made it come out on top)
Reasoning:
The RR did as much or more damage than the TAC and the CR and the Laser, and did it at longer ranges. Not only that but it was always hard to see where the person was shooting from when they're 100 meters away from you. The flaylock was only OP because you didn't have to stand still to use it. You could jump around your target and make it impossible to hit you while dealing massive splash to your opponent while you didn't take any. The ARs weren't OP as much as they were just clearly better than everything else. They also did the most damage at long range because you could burst fire them to get perfect accuracy (still applicable today). Being able to spam 3 grenades, and having everyone and their mother doing it was just stupid. 2 makes them perfect for tactical use (i.e. you don't just spam them like they don't mean anything). Viziam was only annoying in combination with the AR. It was also an accident. The DEVs admitted that the Viziam was never supposed to have 20 damage, and it should have been 16 like the others. If you were just up against lasers you were fine because you just had to get close enough to them. If they also had AR users though, trying to rush in with a HMG was useless. The ACR was actually not that great of a weapon in 1.7. I mean it was, but compared to the RR's range it just wasn't easy to get within range of the enemy. Now that we have cloaks and that the other weapons got nerfed, the ACR is now on top and can easily be used to sneak around and punish the enemy while their back is turned.
Weapons I've never considered OP HMG ScR Mass Driver Dumb-fire swarm launcher Standard CR
I almost left off the ScR/HMG and did leave out the MD b/c I never bought into the argument it was OP either. Leaving off all three would have made the list too short tho, lol.
Otherwise, you have convinced me of 2 things: I'm moving up the RR and I must have suppressed my memories of the LLAV murder taxi! No other explanation for leaving that off. The OP will be edited.

Cross Atu wrote:Aero Yassavi wrote:Logi ck.0 with Duvolle TAR was by far the darkest days IMO The days when you could see slayer Cals with TAR + Contact Nades taking out LAVs at range In one ambush I saw a poor heavy try to LAV rush a squad with TARs, they destroyed his LAV with TAR fire and when he bailed at the last minute casual tossed contact nades at him. I don't think he even got off a single shot and they were all just standing out in the open.
That's true enough, there's really no combination that can come even close to that because none of the others coexisted beyond scout + ACR, which is annoying but not in the same league. Guess I'll have to add that to the OP!

Beta manus peak would like to have a word with you. Even early Uprising manus peak before the sockets with more cover came in.
(They were never really OP, though.)

Cody Sietz wrote:How come the ScR never makes it to the list?
It was on my original list (at the bottom) but I took it off after later posts. It was never really the FoTM and was no more or less OP than the Duvolle was at the same time (1.6-ish) unless it was paired with an Amarr assault in which case it was a little better, but not by enough to make it the clear choice.
