would it be possible to change the way the red line functions?
if so I saw a suggestion a while ago where damage can't go through the red line in either way, this would finally put paid to all of the complaints about the red line and would allow people to regroup within the red line during red lined matches rather than getting continuously annihilated with no chance of a comeback.
if you do take this on board could you also reduce the red line area, as I'm normally a sniper and can honestly say there are a few too many good places to snipe from that are in red lines and whilst I'm at it any chance of some more positions?

Well hello new berry. You are either new to dust or to its forums.
Admitting you are a sniper will grant you many trolls. Use them well. They are like forum gold. Covered in sheep dung unfortunately. Asking for more sniper positions, well I must say you are a brave one.
The red line is not a damage preventing barrier. Changing that would require a significant requirement from CCP which dust no longer has. Try again in project legion, where the developers are actually working on new bits and pieces.
As to the boundaries of the red line it allows enough room for either side to spawn without rail gun tanks shooting them inside their MCCs is a distinct improvement over how dust use to operate. Once a side was red lined then it was stupid to stay in the match. You couldn't spawn in without an instant death as it was common to get the ground CRU blown up as well. It was much later when they decided to add a ground spawn that wasn't tied to a CRU.

Lol, thanks. I'm actually not a noob, one of the reasons behind this post is i'm active on other posts and fed up with the red line sniper comments that keep gettin dropped. and i'm backing up my own comments by actually makin a suggestion.
I'm well aware of the trolls, with any luck they'll feel the need to keep this going Don't get me wrong, i would only suggest less red zone if they did make it a safe area.
The extra places etc..well if you don't ask...

Good to know you are not a noob.
Asking is always best, even if there is little possibility of an answer here in dust. In the forums you got my response which might be worth the same thing but it is more than one might expect from the developers. Unless you want you input considered for project legion. I wonder if it will have a use for these maps, come to think of it?
Others games, which I have been playing lately, don't have red lines but they do have safe spawn areas. Dust lacks those so the red line is a reasonable solution. At least it is better than having nothing at all, the shielded spawn areas are more restrictive but more fun as well.
My frustration with dust continues. Friends log in and I welcome them back but they leave after a few battles saying it is still boring and none of the bugs have been fixed. At least none of the ones that made the game bad enough for them to quit in the first place. The only time I logged on recently was to total up how much SP I needed to get to my next level of tanking/ADS. I didn't even bother to play a match.
I miss the vision of pre-Uprising dust. There was potential, hope and many more things to get filled in. Now it is just the poor basis for a PC game. Oh well, such is life.
