Not for CQC, AT ALL, unless you have the high ground and deadly aim. I find it nice, once I got used to it. I dislike the seize but its like using a SCR, watch the heat gauge.

Its not an actual weapon, CCP just put it in to troll those who accidentally pressed the skill up button on it thinking it was an actual weapon  |

It's like using an SCR with half of the damage per shot, a quarter of the range, less shots, worse accuracy, and worse hit detection.
You have long since made your choice. What you make now is a mistake.

I'm fine with the seize, just it does it because I accidentally held the button for tenth of a second and it overheats.
I love the Ion Pistol, just fix the glitches and poor hit detection.

My issue is it seems like it seizes almost immediately?! At basic lvl it seizes after one charge shot?! It's not for cqc, but it doesn't have range either?! What is it good for then? CCP hating on the gallente again smh?! That's why we have so much armor?! Because our weapons suck!

I use it with lvl 5 Galente assault. I only have sharpshooter up to 1 but I'm still hipfire spamming people close range reliably. I try to remember to keep at least one round in the clip for a finishing shot if there's a corner to walk behind to charge. I'm not sure what glitches you're referring to. |

It needs more damage per shot, tighter hipfire because its abismal at the moment, and needs less heat build up. The the gun will be much better. I love the ion pistol it just needs something to make it good. |

The glitch that makes it overheat even if it is only charged 15-25 percent. Also, the ADS hit detection is wonky as heck.
I love it, and use it on my GalAssault and have sharpshooter to 4, but it needs a little glitch love. Otherwise it's perfectly balanced.
Oddly enough, it's fun to use it with a AR on a GalCommando.

Takes a -long time- to get used to and has a pretty extreme learning curve but I love the damn thing =3
It's a great finisher (which is the only reason I've ever used sidearms anyway) and it can do some nasty stuff to heavies in the right conditions. You just have to have some range/cover to deal with the seize up if the shot doesn't immediately kill the target.
It also murders lightly tanked Scouts

Really? The weapon is fine. Use it within 8 meters and you'll hit every single shot. It has higher DPS than all the other pistols if you disregard the scrambler pistol headshot multiplier.

I've been killed twice by the Plasma Canon since 1.7, and I'm assuming that I haven't before because it would have been memorable, and I've never, ever, died to an Ion Pistol.

Are you looking to one shot a caldari scout? Pesky bugger keeps putting your junk in the dirt ? ! Then o boy do we have just the gun for you its called an ion pistol ! While being useless for literally any other combat situation the ion pistol has its place. And seeing that caldai scout takes up 40% of the field now its not a bad investment.

I want the Ion Pistol to be better because the scrambler pistol isn't for close combat anymore.
I think that I would be happy if the damage for the Ion pistol was doubled, while not changing much else.
I don't like the charge mechanic.
If this game was fun, I wouldn't be playing it.

I liked the idea of a charge pistol. But when I tried it out, a full charge will insta overheat after 1 shot, if you hold the charge for a while it'll overheat for you... Not to mention when I tried it out, my shots missed over 50% of the time despite the fact I was aiming at people not far off from me, and just tapping the trigger... I might as well use the scrambler pistol for god's sake...
A few clannies and I discussed that the Ion Pistol should hit 90% heat build after a fully charged shot, so that any type of shot thereafter overheats the gun. Thus making a player think about how they'll use it.
Second, the longer the charge, the more range the shot will have before it burns out. And obviously damage output too.
third and final, no overheating the pistol just by virtue of holding the damn charge... Friggen annoying feature for a charge pistol. |

I have level three Ion pistols not into proficiency and i can OHK people. You just have to know when to use it. The Seizing mechanic is buggy though; You don't even have to hold the charge all the way through and it'll over heat.
