Instead of giving the cloak static stats, why not scale the stats by how fast and how much the player moves? Any disruption to the cloak should (temporarily) effect the stats, like being shot.
If a scout is standing still they get the full bonus. The more then move (wind resistance) the more likely they will be seen by scanners. If they get shot the cloaks duration is reduced requiring a charge sooner.
If a cloak shimmers while moving, the profile dampening bonus should be reduced as well to mirror that effect. Having the same bonus regardless of standing still vs moving doesn't really make much sense anyway. |

It does make sense,thats what high tech cloaking gear is for.Not going to argue about it though.

What I want for cloaks:
Impossible to attack while cloaked. Cannot attack until decloaked, which takes 3 seconds to finish. Cloaking takes 3 seconds as well. Pressing the button starts it, and you get progressively more cloaked as the 3 seconds goes.
In return, cloak fields have NO Shimmer while moving. It would be used for escape and insertion. Damp bonus would still apply.

CCP is about to reduce the profile dampening bonus to 0 for standard cloak, and the proto will be drastically reduced from where it is now. I'm saying the cloak should keep the bonus while standing still (or at least half of it), and the bonus should be reduced based on how fast you are moving. Walking would give you a higher reduction than sprinting. The profile dampening should mirror the visual effect.
But why stop there? The duration should also be reduced as well. The less you move the longer it will last. If you get shot the duration should be reduced a tad. The cloak takes energy, so more energy should be "used" to compensate for keeping you hidden. Air resistance and being shot should qualify as making the cloak work harder. |
