I'm running for CPM myself, and why not? I don't see the community with rose tinted glasses, in fact i'm probably just as likeley to be swearing at you lot through my TV screen. I don't particulary care about representing a specifc playstyle either. I don't run corps, or alliances, barely spend any time in EVE and i'm certainly not in it for lol Dust/Legion fame. Just an anonymous merc drifting between contracts.
I'm running because Dust is a favorite hobby of mine, and it would be cool to have some form of input on the dying embers of Dust and the start of Legion, probably in the way that it should be. As in interacting with the forums, get the pulse of what players want, discuss things with my fellow elected CPM, and give the devs from feedback from time to time.
I got no manifesto, in game politics, grandoise plan or even an ulterior motive. I can promise you nothing if you vote for me except a cynical attitude and understanding that i represent players with a wide range of playstyles. I, or anybody else running can not promise anymore than that because I have no idea what is under the NDA or what isn't. Also its important to realize its CCP that designs and pays the development for Dust and Legion, and the CPMs role in that m achine is pretty limited.
That said I want, like all of us, to help improve the intellectual property as it migrates from Dust to Legion. I can promise that I'll do my best to steer things in the direction that we as a community feel is best in conjunction with what CCP's vision and goals are for the game.
Peace.

Th DUST Community for me conveys a unique sense of inclusivness of other players with a nasty little elitist ego on the side. People spend alot of time and effort in getting good at their role of choice and always seem to think (me incuded) that we're know better than anyone else is at times. The trust squads and corps build amongst players who respect each other makes the game very inclusive. In most case as long as you are willing to fight hard lots of good corps will take in strangers and teach them how to play.
Its kind of like going to the greatest bar in world which also happens to be the most violent/passive agressive bar in the world. With friends its awsome, alone its tricky, Old heads get the best tables, and new guys kind of get beatup at the door. And the forums would be the one dark corner where people scream thier poltical philosophy.
Me, i just want to be the bartender.

Dust wise, i've been playing since open beta. Definitly not the richest merc, not really a slayer nor an SP titan. I've got just over 24 million SP, that i've invested in every thing in the game. I'm best known as a proto minimatar logi, but i have always had points invested in every class of suit (except the commando post 1.8), and every vehicle, and every weapon. Eve wise, tried it, its a beautiful looking game but the point and click style of flying or combat isn't for me.
to answer your questions:
1: I would prefer feedback and CPM requests to be done soley in the forums. That way players can see if progress is being made and rightfully get credit for good ideas that players propose. Also it goes down to transparancy so everybody can see who i am discussing what topic with, and call me out if they feel like i have been neglecting a certain issue. I already squad with people outside of my corp and alliance i hit squad finder all the time, so yeah, i'm always listening.
2. I don't know how much of a link there could be. Eve and dust are two different games with extremley different natures. I would like to learn from hem more about getting the best out of a working relationship with CCP. But thats it.
3. Speaking of concrete examples, off of the top of my head they shoud remove vehicles from ambush. Fix the heavy pg and cpu. Remove damage mods from vehicles. The kind of stuff that could be done tomorrow.
4. Exploration of territory in legion/PVE. I want to able to cruise along in a scannig dropship, pick up something suspicious on scans and call it in to frendlies either rumbling along on the ground or also waiting to be hotdropped in. Even ifits just 16 dudes convergin on a position to fight for something tht has value to the winner that we can use. Oay almost everything in legion interests me. But map exploration tops my own list. To be honest, I'l most likely just act on what the community prefers however. The cpm is for the community, not really as a personal sounding board.
5. I'd just want people to say we did alright by them. As long as the general consensus is that we did make the community feel like they were a part of what was going on about dust, that we didn't abuse our position or alienated the communty, i'd be happy with that. If they sung our praise, well that would be even bettter i suppose.
Thanks for the questions, and feel free to ask more. I'll save my real life info for later. Cheers.

Being heavily specced into Vehicles, and only at Advanced Suits on most Dropsuits, should I be excluded from playing the way I want to play in any game mode at all? I could understand if it was an arena-style game mode, or indoors, but we have neither, and excluding a group of people based on how they chose to play isn't right.
I'm specced into vehicles as well. So i know, and every other player that runs ambush that once the vehicles come in its a giant turkey shoot. We all know Infantry have no place to run, and are lucky to find a place to hide, especially on small maps. AV guys dont last 5 seconds out there, even if you destroy a tank, because there is no supply depot in regular ambush to switch suits at.
Tanking in ambush is exploiting the size of the maps, and the ease of killing infantry who don't have the time to set up proper defenses or call in mutiple vehicles from the safety or a red line to counter/outmanuever you like in a domination or a skirmish. So if abusing vehicles like that is the kind of way you want to play, no you should'nt do it.
You are already denied calling in a vehicle anyways if me and a friend call in a vehicle. You have already been excluded from playing how you want. As is most infantry because ambush is restricted to revolving around whether or not your side manages to get an tank in, and on getting where vehicles are inaccessible.
By the way it is also reversible, so if the community reacted negativley to the idea of removing vehicles, they can always be put back in.
Also on you having "only" advanced suits, you don't need proto to play ambush.

If we get elected and get chance to give CCP feedback on vehicle changes, of course there are tons of differing factors to tae into consideration. The recent Blaster cannon dispersion hotfix was good start. Vehicles vs AV getting tweaked may also be a game changer. There are many factors that could come into play. As things stand right now, i think if CCP did offer to remove vehicles from ambush i would agree. It could be tried in stages first ambush then ambush OMS. and we see how the community reacts from there.

Again i could have just asked this in gang but thought best not to hide in private channels (burn) I am totally there with you on the cynical part of this community, I myself have been pretty scathing of CCP and their handling of this game throughout the games life. So i have a question - what do you feel the CPM1 could do to reduce the cynical nature of much of the player base? perhaps in the context of communications? what do CCP need to do better to talk to their players? what else perhaps drives players to be cynical asshats like me? Thanks for your reply! CEO
I don't think the players should by any less cynical. The way I see it the average player has spent a long time in building a character or a specific suit. It does take long term planing, and alot of players think about every detail before they invest and while they invest. Its part of why DUST players are very defensive (dare i say proud?) about their preferred playstyle, becuse it took a month or more to build up. Its part of why the community can be resistant to change, but also why the community generates so much feedback. Positive constructive feed back like judges videos. Or pure emotional feed back like bamms reaction video to sabrewings departure. or just data driven ones like protofits.com To be honest CCP earnd some of that cynicsm the hard way, far beyond the control of the CPM (fanfest anyone?). So longs as its not detrimental or harmful to others or the dvelopment of the game, i say go for it.
