From what was said at Fanfest there will not be Mac support. You can always try dual booting I guess.

I hope this isn't the case. Because if you guys are seriously only going to support DirectX 11 you limit your platform choices to Windows and XBOX. This is unfortunate because EVE supports Mac. How are you planning on supporting PS4 in the future?
I really feel that Unreal 4 or Source would have been better choices for engines. Both have cross-platform support, and Source at least has anti-cheating for FPS's built in through steam. |

Eve Online can operate on the Mac, so it stands to reason that there is a very high likelihood that eventually there will be a Mac version sometime down the line.

Wrong. Legion is operating in a highly-modified version of UE3 compared to how Dust is with UE3. I think CCP Saberwing was the one who confirmed it on the forums.

Legion and DUST both operate on a highly-modified version of UE3 at the moment. I don't want to rule out Mac support in the future (because I honestly don't know the answer) but the initial plan is PC first. Jenza has expressed her frustration at this numerous times...and I just bought a MacBook pro! Doh

Don't buy a Mac and expect to play games on it. Mac is not build for that and the only game Apple plays in general i the rip off game ;)

I used to play on a Gaming PC, but after the graphics card melted and the hard drive bricked within six months, I gave it away and bought a Mac. My Mac worked well enough to run two EVE accounts at the same time in PVP combat. I have had the Mac for a long time now and never had any trouble with it.
I had to buy a PS3 to play DUST 514.
So I guess I will be buying another Gaming PC to play Legion. I will need something that I can run Legion and EVE on at the same time. I am not a big fan of turning down graphics settings, so I will be paying for more power.

Chill man, choice of operating system is just that, a choice. If you use a program that is only available on BSD / Linux / Mac OS X / Windows X it is even a choice that is made for you. No need to hate on the different implementations. (Do feel free to hate on the *persons* that chose computer based on how it looks... )

A Mac is technically a PC. If you know anything about the history of Silicon Valley especially involving Apple and Microsoft, you'd know that Windows is based off of Apple.

A mathematician is a computer, but we don't call them computers (at least not nowadays); by the same token, we don't call Macs PCs.

No I'm not confused. A personal computer is a personal computer regardless if it's operated by windows or Mac. It's just like how I see a Logitec headset and a Beats headset. Different labels, same ****.

A PC (personal computer) can refer to any computer, regardless of the operating system. But this is not how people use the term, and unfortunately Apple themselves have perpetuated it with their stupid "I'm a Mac and I'm a PC" commercials. So this is why I have to ask because most people mean Windows when they say PC support. And given that I've seen mention of DirectX 11 support, I figured this was the case.
I use Mac professionally as a software engineer. I use Mac because OS X is a UNIX operating system, and it's more compatible with the Linux servers I work with than Windows is. Setting up a development environment in Mac is also less work than it is on Windows, especially with tools like Homebrew.
Another factor is the MacBook is light weight, uses high quality aluminum, and has a much higher resell value. More often then not I can get more than 50-75% back by reselling it on Craigslist, depending on how long I keep it (1-3 years). I'm lucky to get 10% from a non-Mac computer, even if I sold it within a year.
Mac is quite capable of running computer games, especially with the discreet graphics cards. It's true I cannot upgrade as much, especially with the retina display, but I can upgrade every few months if I wanted to, which is far more than you can say for PlayStation or XBOX.
If you guys are serious about having Legion on multiple platforms you're looking in the wrong place. You should be focusing on OpenGL instead of DirectX. Even Valve is focusing on OpenGL. They are even contributing heavily into improving Linux drivers. Focusing on Windows is the worst possible plan. It will be much harder to transition to OpenGL later as an afterthought. You need to be doing it now. If you don't your going to lock yourself into Windows and maybe XBOX. |

It's more about the interactions between Dust/Legion and EVE. For example, an EVE player dropping an OB on a planet. The two game servers have to talk to each other and translate effects in both game clients. |

Well said, Cyrus. +1
I'm a pretty dedicated Mac user and the vast majority of my gaming is done via PS3 and iPad outside of EVE on my desktop. I am actually pretty much the type of player the pure PC to Legion move hurts the most. Having the ability to access Legion via Mac products would be pretty nice for me personally. That said, I honestly don't know enough about the tech aspects to hazard a guess how difficult it is to develop shared gameplay across PC, MAC, and hopefully a console.
