1) Give logis a bonus to equipment that gives the nonbonus equipment about 85% of the effectiveness it had in 1.7
2) Do something to assault suits (plenty of good ideas out there)
I think doing this first is the best approach to fixing scouts for now. Scouts and the passive scanning is a complex issue. I think they should take some time to listen to feedback first.

Not really. Being a ogi in a logi suit sucks. It's more fun and arguably more effective in a scout suit. Assault suits suck compared to certain scout suits.
Think of it as correcting past mistakes that compounded current issues.

Scouts are currently out Logying the Logis due to their smaller hitbox, ability to carry 2 equipment, a sidearm, and their ability to stack plates and still hide. Plus they aren't "shoot me!" yellow. Logis need some sort of overall bonus to equipment, nothing major, just something to make it less useless than it is now. Even a 2, 3, or 5% per level to non specialized equipment would go a long ways.

I like this. video games should be fun and while the argument "I'm not op everything else is just nerf" doesn't hold water. the argument "my class is fun and all the other classes aren't" certainly does. if a class doesn't feel good it needs work whether it's op or nerf.

The logi class really got kicked in the nuts. I feel like it would be getting more outcry from logis, but I think a lot of logis are of the same self-loathing mindset of those who don't want payouts increased for winning in pubs.

I think it's because most Logis aren't selfish children that want everything that kills them nerfed into the ground. But that's just me.

You could be right. I just stopped logiing. I didn't really complain. The tone of the forums and the devs that began to fall in line with the logi hate led me away from logi. The equipment nerf and the indirect nerf to logi suits with the bonuses were not a surprise to me.

Yep. Ditto. Been rocking my Min Commando and having way more fun than with my Logi suit. But I miss being a Logi. Now with the talk of the "no grenades at nanohives" the Flux / MD combo is all but gone, as is the favored support weapon of Logis.

Yeah, I used to logi in a Calogi suit with the flux/MD combo. And it's the best I've ever been in Dust. I can't imagine doing it now, without a sidearm.
I was a beast with a MD back in the day. There weren't many of us out there. I rocked it from November 2012 to 1.3 or whenever they buffed it to the point it was WAYYY OP. I just felt ashamed to use it, kind of like a blaster tanker in pubs should feel now.

Gallente Assault vs Gallente Scout... in a 1vs1 in a field, Assault wins 100% of the time, More health, More damage, More slots.
Caldari Scout Vs Caldari Assault... Same thing...
This goes for every scout suit vs assault.
The only advantage a scout suit has over an Assault is the ability to stay off people radar.. And peoples ABSOLUTE reliance on their radar and The appearance of a Red Chevron that it's such a strong strength.
Cloak with competent players means nothing except at great distance or taking advantage of camping in a corner which doesnt get you to far in progressing the game and winning.
Shotguns have always been 1-3 hits your done no matter who you where... When Aiming in DUST 514 actually ment something Shotgunners where more deadly then they are now...
Imagine Tennis, You smash the ball as hard as you can at your opponent and between the ball flying at them at 100mph your loud grunt and the seconds they have to react... They just Crap them self and stumble with their racket as the ball hits them and you score a point.
Thats what Scouts used to do in DUST with a shotgun, Run at you face to face and make you crap your pants and miss and miss and miss because of the pressure then BOP. People called it dancing away bullets or dodging bullets... Really it was just using an aggressive playstyle to force errors from your opponent. |
