Is there any chance for dropships to be restructured? Currently, ADS are best for solo players and ad-hoc squads, while ordinary dropships are the thing for proper teamplay. In terms of skill points, a new player will be more likely to play solo or in a disorganized squad than a more involved player.
So why is the path to ADS so hard? Why can't ADS be the basic dropship, instead of the other way around? Give us a militia ADS, without slots aside from the guns, or something.
Note: I personally already have ADS skilled. But it took me quite a while and I couldn't train my flying in the meantime because the ordinary dropships are pointless. Even in an ad-hoc squad, you'll have trouble getting a normal dropship to work. You need a dedicated team with a proper plan to make use of that ******* thing.
Part of the issue is that the interface for dropships ******* sucks. But, as we won't be getting any new features, it would be a good idea to simply make access to ADS easier - The kind of dropship that *everyone* can make use of. |

Yay, then I could put up with ADS spam along with the tank spam.

I'm gonna say no and this shouldn't happen.
Why is the path to the ads so hard? Because it gets significant bonuses over the standard dropship, speed, firepower and maneuverability as a few. Why is the path to any prototype suit hard?
If you implement a milita ads then suicide dropship ramming is only going to get worse. Only instead of harder to maneuver ships they will have a gun and speed and maneuverability them selves. It simply cannot happen, this system rewards specializing not easy access to high meta gear.
Regular dropships do have a use, I learned how to fly on them before there were assault dropships and are very good for rookies to learn how to fly. Of course they are also used for ramming.
How does the interface suck? Which part specifically?
It would be a horrible idea to make access to the ADS easier, it should NEVER be something anyone can just pick up. It takes time effort and skill to fly an ADS, these aren't tanks buddy, stop trying to make them like one please. |

Normal dropship skill barely transfers to ADS skill. DS and ADS also fullfill completely different functions. Have you somehow missed the fact that an ADS can shoot without a passenger?
ADS are the dropships for solo players. DS are for teams. A DS is barely any use, aside from putting spawn uplinks into high places, for a solo player or a disorganized group of players.
Imagine if skilling into Assault meant first skilling into a type of suit that does not have a weapon. That's the issue here. With an ADS I can collect warpoints and get more skilled, while a DS completely prevents me from doing that. That's why an ADS should be first on the list.
Also, your ******** as **** "then everyone will ram ADS into everything forever" argument is completely ******* bonkers. It's the most ******** logical fallacy ever. An ADS still takes a lot of skill to not randomly crash into walls. And ADS are still the most expensive thing to buy in the entire ******* game. A sane point of access to ADS does not cause them to be spammed. If it actually makes sense to spam them (Which it doesn't, considering that people will very quickly shoot them down and thank you for the WP infusion), then there's clearly something broken about the balancing. |

It actually takes relatively little sp to get into an ADS, but if you want to have all the best stuff it takes a lot more. MLT ads variants do not need to exist simply because you should *have to actually spend sp to get that kind of advantage* or have you not seen the complaints about mlt tanks for the last several months - the ones where they explain in detail that mlt tanks do the same job as proto fit tanks but at 1/5-1/6th the isk cost and with no sp investment.

You are a fool if you think ADS are meant for solo play. An assault dropship with just a pilot is only operating at 30% efficiency. You will simply not be able to match the kind of firepower or tactical versatility as an assault dropship with a good crew.
And now your just confusing me, so this milita ads you propose will cost the same as an ads? But with no mods? Why even have it exist then? I don't know if you fly very much but every game I play these days there is at least one if not 3-4 suicide dropships when ever me and my crew go up. Giving them a faster dropship to ram good ADS will happen, not sure how you don't see that.
There already is a sane point of access, skill into it. Doesn't take much more than a week to get the basic frame. Making a milita version of a specialized variant of the dropship doesn't make sense.
Should we also have milita variants of the specialized dropsuits? |
