VAC ban =/= Steam Ban. If you get VAC banned, you are unable to play online games that use VAC. Steam Ban/Suspension, which is more rare, is a poof. As always, it is free to make a Steam account. Make a Steam account, make a burner Legion account, and a ban will only slow you down moderately.

The problem with totally free games is not catching cheaters. That is fairly easy and you ban them. The problem is prevention. Even if you ban Cheater McDick within an hour of them aim-botting and annoying the hell out of players in matches, they will be back in a hour. CCP needs to put a stop to cheating before it starts.

However, I am in the camp of "cheating, while not unheard of, is not entirely common in PC games", especially when it is in competitive stuff. Sure TF2 has some aim-bots and Starcraft has some maphacks but they are about as common as console lag switchers. It happens but it is a "that person is a colossal weenie that probably feels bad about themselves for still wetting the bed" rather than a "this game is dying because everyone is using it" type of thing.

Anyway, Legion should most definitely be on Steam. Being featured is a great way to get some more players into a game especially when the game is free. Since EVE is already there it makes since Legion would be.
