Few other reasons as well. Biggest one I can see is, as this game currently is (not what it was promised/meant to be), it is just a Call of Duty / Battlefield clone; log on and shoot some people. The problem is that the Call of Duty / Battlefield games are better at being themselves than Call of Duty / Battlefield clones. It is the same reason why WoW clones have failed spectacularly at killing WoW but games that are vastly different like EVE find their nice little niche and survive for 11 years. DUST is currently an arcade shooter but it is a weaker arcade shooter than other games basically.
No marketing presence doesn't help either. I am curious how many people would like to play DUST but just have no idea that the game exists.
