I've heard people claim that Caldari scouts seem to occasionally become magically immune to weapon fire. I always thought this was probably just QQ.
However today I swear I fired 15 rail rifle rounds at close range into a Caldari scout without him taking any damage.
It is possible I just missed every shot. Rail rifles aren't great at hip fire, and he was strafing. It did seem odd though. I really felt like some shots should have connected.
What are other people's experiences of this? Do I just need to learn to aim? Has reading the forums made me paranoid? |

I run CalScout and GalScout.
I haven't found that I'm "tougher to hit" in Cal, but that's just one guy's observation. I have found that Laser Rifles at range eat me alive. Its kinda scary, and its kinda cool :-)

Most of the time I have no trouble hitting Cal scouts. It seemed like a freak occurrence.
The only reason I'm posting about it is because I heard others mention having the same problem. Though I could just have been unlucky. |

Cal Scout only has 2 low slots so fewer armor plates on it. you're just not used to people being so nimble.
and by nimble, I mean the faster you can move the worse hit-detection gets.

and by nimble, I mean the faster you can move the worse hit-detection gets. Yeah, no-one puts plates on CalScout, but it's tougher than an untanked Gal or MinScout, thanks to Complex Shield Extender stacking.
I'm a ScR user, primarily, and I have more problems killing Gallente scouts than Caldari scouts.
For what should be pretty obvious reasons.

I main caldari scout and from my experience, it takes the same damage as anything else. I'm referring to me wearing the suit AND me killing someone wearing the suit.
it may SEEM that they take less damage because you expect the shields to fly down, but you have to remember scouts already have a tiny hitbox plus the cal scout can get the most shields.

Well, the rail rifle, as all railgun tech weapons, has this bug where you press the fire button and it seems like you're shooting, but you're not. Your clip doesn't begin to run out of ammo until later, when you're no longer firing. |

This, the only thing that destroys me quickly in my cal scout (besides a CR) is a Duvolle at close range, I fear this will get worse if they buff up too much the AR's...

Your clip doesn't begin to run out of ammo until later, when you're no longer firing. Maybe that's what happened, I don't use rail rifles often. Or maybe I'm too used to shooting slow armour tankers. Just to be clear I'm not saying this is a common experience, just that it seemed odd in this instance.
And for the record my main suit is a min scout, and any anti-shield weapons melt me instantly. Nothing will make you poo yourself like turning a corner in a min scout and confronting a scrambler rifle. That said, the ability to run away screaming is why I fell in love with the suit. |

Let's see, I certainly feel nothing different AS a Cal Scout other than a small boost to speed. Then again, we have Min Scouts for that.
I have one-shotted two cloaked Cal Scouts in rapid succession with a shotgun and a hunch. But I've also gone up against three Cal Scouts with Shotgun, Bolt Pistol, and ACR who received merely a dent from my weaponry, and strafed crazy. You could've guessed how those instances turned out.
I suppose it's the variations in armor fitting across different players.

For some reason, Minmatar weaponry seems to be ineffective when I use them against Cal Light frames. Yesterday, I had a Caldari Scout in direct line of my HMG. He ran straight at me through the fire only to blast me in the face with his shotgun.
My dual SMG fit also has problems. Whenever I'm in range for surprise sneak attack, I unload my clips only to have the Cal Scout I'm hunting down turn around and finish me off with his or her ACR/CR. I won't even detail the trouble I've had where 90% of my CR rounds seem to do no damage...
The only weapon I use that seems effective against them is my ScP. |

Probably because they're armor based.

Because yeah, a Minmatar commando with lv5 using projectile makes it SO MUCH worse against shields than rail rifles.
It takes more bullets to down MILITIA calscouts than PROTO minscouts.
I've been stating this for ever- they take reduced dmg to shields from projectile(i'm talking 75% reduction)
Since when does hit detection make a calscout take 5 ( ! ) damage from a PROTO ACR on minmando 5?
Hit detection makes hits not register, not register for % damage.
It takes 3 locuses to kill my Basic Cal light with 1 extender.

Cal scouts only advantage is they are a darker suit .... Mixed with not Having that Red outline and chevron above their head and Enemies can't make up their mind if they are on their team or are an enemy and often dont distinguish a difference from them to their team mate.
Hit detection in DUST is a Farce.
When your crosshair turns "Red" that is the only time CCP's Servers and your Playstation 3 says "Ok your bullets will now hit"
Where as any other shooter, You spray your bullets at a wall and where they go in your reticule is where they always go and thats how you aim and hit.
Dust it's a series of waiting for your Crosshairs to turn "red" So you can fire.
It's why Aim Assist is so strong in DUST 514. Because Once those Crosshair's "Red" your hitting 80-90% bullet accuracy with any gun, Then the Magnetic Tracking on Aim Assist will keep your Crosshairs "Red" Longer... And with Fixes in 1.5 and 1.6 to DS3's they expanded the area in which Your crosshairs will turn "Red" for the Gamepad.
Making aiming something that is not really relevant in playerskill for DUST 514... More Generally look in the area's and get your crosshairs "Red" Hold down the fire button... Rinse Repeat. |

People arent QQing about the Cal scout because those F*kers are Cal Scout.
The hit detection is all screwed up, and has never been right.
I do not have any skills into Cal scout but used a militia the other day, kin cat, compact hive, no nades, basic CR, toxin SMG and 1complex 1enh Shield, couldnt fit anything else; I went 17 and 5. I was outstrafing everything, killing heavies whilst bunny hopping and using cover to recharge. EZ Mode

I use the cal scout and I still die in it, especially against good players that can shoot. I normally run with a ScR and I have zero issue eating other cal scouts alive.
The only time I notice an issue is when I notice a hit detection issue and then nobody takes damage properly regardless of what suit they are wearing.
Gun control is not about guns...it's about control.
