In close relation to a concept presented here on AUR purchasable treasure chests, I am requesting that CCP consider the inclusion of a mechanic that allows players to convert message files into item assets (data diskettes). For example, this may be used by a lore inclined player to create a series of fan-fictions and disperse them in loot caches around PVE zones in New Eden with clues to find the location of each story, and accompanying gear.
Additional points: -Creation of a diskettes from a message creates a non-removable time-stamp and name of the player who created the public file. -CCP may track the transfer of diskettes between player (exactly as current in-game message systems work). -Files only support text and retain functionality word processor tools as in Eve: Online client. -Diskettes cost a negligible amount of ISK to create (currently NPC vendor) -Message diskettes may be destroyed.
I'm am seeking feedback on this concept and welcome any and all critiques.

This is a very cool idea. I would love to see something like this. However, knowing people. It would get abused and you would see disks with very inappropriate things.
Imagine finding a looting spot and opening the container only to find.
"HAHA you thought you were going to find something! &*#*# you!!"
I donno, I am sure other people are way more creative about things of this nature. But, otherwise a very interesting concept.

I donno, I am sure other people are way more creative about things of this nature. But, otherwise a very interesting concept. I am perfectly fine if people use it that way. Remember people must use AUR to buy containers in order to pull off these public trolls. CCP wins and people get their fun. As for general abuse of diskettes, it's really not much different than our in our in-game message system except that instead of sending messages between people it's sender to public. Within that context it's a lot more dangerous to write bannable material.

Could a mechanic like this ever be expanded to EVE online were we extract packages and messages from a planets surface for them?

Another important point to discuss is how they would be stored in your inventory. There are a lot of RPG gamesbwe can look to on that; which one is the best?

Plus the fact that you can report really obscene messages, just like you can with the current message system.

While impractical, I would love the ability to curate New Eden's player-side message logs within purchasable or community sharable locations. Like an AUR bought library for example.

Here's an interesting idea. You remember how CCP showed how planets have their own environmental hazards? Now what if those hazards applied to the degradation of items and loot caches on a planet. In order to free up server space items will eventually breakdown even messages if they are not recovered soon enough.

The point should probably be brought up for debate. Currently the messages are free, but the bottles your put them are in can only be obtained with real money. If loot caches were to have an ISK equivalent, what would be a fair price?

There would have to be some type of baked in mechanic to prevent people from easily duplicating guides without transcribing them. Otherwise you'd run into an issue of people attempting to undercut you with fakes. Or there could be some types of adjustable timer to dictate when a message is read that it will automatically erase itself.

If a notification system was public for when a particular player retrieved a loot crate this means clever players would relatively know how long it takes that person to find the next crate if they specifically designed the first to hold a message pointing toward the next one. You could set up ambush parties this way!

Too much Top Gear. It's bleeding into everything. Anyways, enough derailment. You could also lead people on wild goose chases that end with all sorts of things. Mostly lots of deaths. ^ I like that one.
