He has mentioned many times in the past his love of Dust 514, and demonstrated a good understanding of the actual gameplay mechanics in motion through various forum posts.
I'm very happy to see him at the head of the project!

The communication with the community right now has been excellent, yes.
I havent had time to be a part of it yet, but I think this shows that CCP can change their dev mentality towards more open-ness and communication.
It also show us that NDA was not the previous cause of failed communication with us (except for the fanfest presentation obviously).
