I would say no one really knows yet, but if I where to guess it is at least 2 years away.

I doubt that, I think there will be a beta maybe around autumn/winter this year.
Dust and Legion share the same engine(UE3) so most of the coding from dust can be transfarred.
Besides that Legion is already in dvelopment since 7 months.
On top of all this, just go by logic.
Look at how small changes Dust has gotten during the last year, nor think about the team behind this.
I fan only guess but I would say CCP shanghai has atleast 20 employees. you cant tell me 20 employees working fulltime and getting paid for a fulltime job only can produce what has been offered for Dust during the last year. Thats just not realistically.
This is not meant to mock Ccp, I'm just taking an realistic look at things.
Besides all of th stated above just look at the LIVE played version of Legion, the game doesnt look to much in alpha for me, there were no visible glit hes and the video was not a pre rendered trailer, it was live played version of the game, now tell me, would you do that with an early alpha? Most alpha stage games look horrible and are full of glit hes, I for myself couldnt see that in the ff presentation.
This is all just speculation but I dont think CCP is telling us the full truth, I expect a possible Beta release Date at E3 or any other big game concention in the upcoming months.

I expect a beta to be showcased at FanFest 2015 and in players hands shortly thereafter, then a full working game to be showcased at FanFest 2016 with a full release shortly thereafter.

After the summer towards winter (beta). They allready have a working fully functional prototype, all they need to do is add more stuff into it and make tweaks to the game. Then we can all play beta, which should be alott like the way dust is now. And then from there on out make the game better. As for the alpha stage that has allready passed, since they took most over from dust. |

They've already been working on it for 8 months and from what I've heard have a playable (but buggy as hell) version.
So I'd say another 5-6 months till closed beta, open beta shortly before Fanfest with full launch for Christmas 2015.
But who knows really. Lol. It's all speculation.
