How fast is escape velocity for 1g? Most planets are around that. Your ships probably want to get out again afterwards and probably don't want to fall into the atmosphere and explode.
This
Also, there's weather changes........

Also there's that little thing that Trit does when exposed to O2. BTW, for those who don't know, all space ships are mostly Trit.
oddly, all Winmatar weapons are tipped with trit, yet only two explode..........

Watch the immortal clone trailer, you can clearly see freighter and hauler class ships in atmo. Your argument is invalid
Just watched it, and they were in orbit, not in the atmosphere. Again, no.

Himiko Kuronaga wrote:...that's a description for unrefined tritanium. And nowhere does it state that it doesn't matter. Furthermore, it actually supports the argument that refined tritanium is treated differently because temperature is what causes the instability. Your ship is being shot at all the time in space and ammunition runs hot. Hotter than your typical "human habitat". By space logic a single volley would cause an entire ship to combust. But it does not, because it is refined. So, try again.
Shields aren't made of anything but energy, armor isn't made of trit (gameplay wise it is but lore wise it isn't). The only thing that is the the outermost structure, and lore wise if that's shot at, your ship starts exploding. The only reason why it isn't is because of hull tanking.
And if that's the case, why wouldn't they just use this "refined" trit that you keep on bringing up?
By the way, trit is refined, and came from veldspar.

Titanium, iron and aluminum can all react quite violently when exposed to a high concentration of oxygen. Also, I would like to see your source. I haven't seen anything supporting your implications of a tritanium-oxygen reaction as of yet.
Can't remember when, but on a forum post (EVE forums), it was asked why, and a dev answered that it was highly explosive, so flying into the atmosphere would make it go boom (that's why the ships has giant ass explosions whenever they blow up).
That dev also said (other than the fact that the ships don't go fast enough for escape velocity, and the fact that weather would become ****** up) it also explains why ships never go planetside.

titanium =/= trit, but okay, it seems as though they have the same characteristics.
