Literally because your play in DUST will matter in Legion if it hits greenlight status. It's been said (and repeated on these forums a number of times) that character migration is going to happen. There may of course be some differences because they will be different games, but your progress in DUST will improve your standing in Legion.
EDIT: And please don't read too much into the phrase "improve your standing in Legion" - the 100% truth is that we don't know right now exactly what can and will eventually be migrated.
