Yes, once we switch it from assault rifle to plasma rifle, you guys should work on making an assault varient of the plasma rifle, because the standard version right now has short range and low ROF, so make a longer range higher ROF version just like the assault hmg and smg. |

This is the case. Though I will add, looking at the AR variants (Burst, Breach and and Tactical) is on our list, but only once we give the base version some love.

TAC: Increase damage, range and clip size (Damage slightly above SCR, range way below SCR, clip size at 22~) Why: The TAC variant of the AR should be the most damaging, but also lowest range. Clip size increased because it has enough shots in the clip to match the SCR overheat. (By the time the SCR overheats, TACAR needs to reload)
Breach: Put scope on, give it more optimal than TAC AR but keep the same effective range, undo damage nerf and then maybe increase fire rate further as needed. Why: Breach is supposed to mimic the RR, so why does it have as much range as the assault variant? It's also extremely weak, being the lowest DPS hit scan weapon in the game by far.

Can we instead have a free combat rifle for the Minmatar, a free rail rifle for the Caldari, and a free scrambler rifle for the Amarr as starting toons with the NPE? This way the new players will recognize the verisimilitude and parity that the game is supposed to have based upon racial variants and preferences.

IWS made them seem impossible many moons ago when he asked us how we would change starter fits. Is this now possible?

It wasn't ever impossible, but it's not easy. We haven't actually looked at the actual feasibility of making that change yet, but it's certainly something I would like to look at.

What needs to be looked at? Is it more difficult than replacing "assault" with "plasma" in some database and descriptions? Could you elaborate more on when the community and devs have been calling the assault rifle a plasma rifle for at least a year now, but that change hasn't been made?

From a programmer standpoint, if you reduce the value of the gear itself in damage it will make it almost unworthwhile but will enable you to famr isk when in trouble. To fix simply, you should make a non skillable weapon that is very shite, and et voila, problem solved across the board. |

Some people obviously dont know a joke when they see one
On a side note though, why couldn't there be variants of each rifle that are just super-versions of the main style? Super-assault plasma rifle, super-burst combat rifle, super-breach rail rifle, super tactical scrambler rifle? Really tweak the aspect of that rifle that makes it unique and turn it up to 11 while toning something else down to compensate. Kind of like how the AR has two officer weapons, the balac and the krin, with one of them really cranking up the RPM while the other just kinda increases available ammo.
Heck, you'd think there wouldn't even be an assault-hmg or assault-smg possible because the standard versions 'already seem like really good assault weapons to begin with' but there are assault versions of these already-assault weapons. |

I think in order to do this you would have to add in the rest of the weapons. For example if I used a sniper fit and I'm a minmatar car I would need a minmatar sniper rifle. However I don't recall if there were ever any plans to make racial sniper rifles But it would be cool along with racial shotguns. I know there were plans for different racial knives and vehicle types that haven't been released yet and sadly probably never will in dust. |

gallente "AV" is supposed to be the plasma cannon, but it works about as well as militia locus nades against a vehicle
