Seriously? Its impossible to do anything in Dust.
I worked really hard on factional warfare getting my ass raped just so I can get loyalty points for missile turrets on tanks because earning SP seems impossible and the regular missiles are hard to get. So, I get my missile tanks and hay presto, I can fire all 12 missiles into another tank, take its shields down and some armour if i'm lucky, only to be killed by a 80J ion cannon like I was made of paper.
The on foot everyone if in heavy suits that take an entire clip of rail rifle rounds to scratch him, and before you know it 've been insta-killed by someone with high end equipment.
I never knew earning LP, ISK and SP could be so hard. Its like sticking WW1 conscripts against modern day SAS And Sherman's against M1 Abrams.

OP, almost everyone feels the same and no, there is no way to play ither new players, which is why this game failed. I would join you in complaining and asking for changes but there will be no changes, so my advice is stay out of Ambush, stay with the pack and don't take getting stomped personally, it is the game, not you.
Because, that's why.

The best thing you can do as a new player is to join a corp that runs squads. It really is the best to survive, learn and enjoy the game more.

who feels the same? the squad you are in is key to being a newer player because there is no easy way around the harsh world of dust. but if you have good vet players running with you in squad its way easier to get on your feet. As far as Fac war we run special squads to make it easy for are new players to get there LP. and with the missile tank you want to stack damage mods to make sure you kill the enemy tank with one clip. join a corporations because we are like gangs out here if your running around solo with low SP its going to be ruff for you.

Training my friend, its training. Everyone started off getting their butts handed to them. It's not hard to get to 7 mil SP and be competitive on the field. Yes, it seems like a uphill battle but its doable. In Parris Island, they would tell new recruits that pain is weakness leaving the body. Keep going hard, see the mistakes you made or things you can improve on. With diligence and determination, you will become a lethal force on the field like the enemy you face.

Truth. As a newb, not knowing anyone, you are going to die a lot. Find some one to help you learn the ropes and get your suit squared away and it will help. Sadly enough, there are dbags in this game that love to run proto in pub matches and harvest new guys and then preach on the forums that they are trying to help the community. It is start it is. |

I play lone wolf and usually std or adv fits and go isk positive in most matches.
Cheap fits played well can earn isk which pays for more skills.
At the start pick a rifle type that you like and only spend points on it. Don't spread your sp on multiple weapons.
If you are interested in the shotgun just try the MLT it works wonders and only bother to go up when you survive long enough to need to reload regularly.
Otherwise get a single suit type to STD of the specialized type ie scout, assault, logi etc they are cheap to run and most have benefits that go up as you skill into them.
Then spend your points evenly through your core suit upgrades. Go for ones that increase eHP and then ones that support your role.
Armour and Shield upgrades are always good value on any suit.
Go for one type of equipment and I'd suggest uplinks as the defacto choice as learning the best places to put them teaches you about safe and dangerous battlefield positions, can net you lots of WP which means more skill points and teaches you how to counter uplink positions/ wait in ambush along main reinforcement corridors.
In general keep all your key core suit upgrades at the same level and do them first then your weapon and then your suit.

All new players should try for the Learning Coalition chat channel if you are in need of help. They are there to answer your questions and squad with you. Playing this game solo is the path to letting your soul rot. This is a team game. Jump in squads and stick with your blues. I'm usually on everyday randomly between 5-11PM EST time. Send me a mail if the Learning Coalition is quiet/dead and I'm happy to help out.
