If you're taking a break or winding down, there's no need for some grandiose speech. People take breaks, Everyone on the CPM has had to take one at some point or another during these last "3 months".
However, I cannot excuse the tone of this post, and I need to call Bull when I see it, whether it is from CCP or one of my fellow councilbros (and I expect them to do the same for me. This post is basically summed up as "Look at all the great **** that Kane is doing and wants to do" and makes it seem like he's the only one pushing for any of this or having any of these conversations. This post is a great summary of everything the entire CPM did at fanfest and are doing now, However.
The CPM is a team sport. Self-serving, "champion of the people" acts are ill-suited for the position. The unfortunate truth is that the when the real truth is being hidden by the NDA, the only public truth is the one that is spoken. This makes posts like Kane's OP dangerous as it skews the and diminishes (intentionally or not) the efforts and actions of his fellow Councilbros by drawing singular attention to himself and tying these actions to himself, not the whole group.
I wish I could echo IWS' sentiments, and while it is true that during Fanfest and Councilbro meetings everyone is blue.. The rest of the time, that is pretty much null and void. Kane is completely dependant on public attention (good or bad) and at best he could be described as a mindless parrot regurgitating the opinions of those he speaks to who are much more intelligent than he is... even if he doesn't fully understand those opinions. This has led to him rapidly changing position on key issues throughout the year, to the point where he even argues against his own points when one turns around and switches perspectives. Many people have accused him of being self-serving and using internal knowledge to benefit himself. These accusations are entirely false. (At least to my knowledge, but I have no reason to suspect otherwise) That being said, I would be lying if I said we as a council have not had to smack down some pretty selfish proposals in the past.
I won't say he hasn't done good stuff as a councilbro, as working together we have all done some excellent stuff. But I will not sit by and let him try to sell himself as a hero of the people when he has been anything but. If he spent less time looking for gratification and trying to seem space-important, he'd be able to do a lot more good.
Just saying.
