So that's three CPMs down, now, if what I am reading is correct.
More importanntly than anything right now is how bad of a blow this is to the community. CPM0 wasn't even supposed to be in play this long and I think its starting to take its toll on the community, the CPM, and CCP. More than anything, we need good news right now and none of what has transpired since Fanfest is that.
Suppose its true in that it gets worse before it gets better but I really think we all need to focus on something positive for once.

Suppose its true in that it gets worse before it gets better but I really think we all need to focus on something positive for once. Good news? Well... there are around 7 or so CPM1 candidates who seem to respect each other and are able to carry on intelligent debates without personalities getting in the way.Now if we could only get them elected...
There's a lot of candidates. The list of people who -aren't- running for CPM1 is probably smaller than the list of people who are. Unfortunately for many hopefuls, the white paper sort of nyxes a lot of the candidates because many aren't willing to give out real-life, personal information on top of having a passport. So, to say I'm not relieved about that would be lying.
Another thing is that some "candidates" are intending to press their agenda/their corporation/alliances' agenda. This is laughable at worst and insulting at best. Those are the kind of candidates that would do more harm than good for the game, in my opinion. Mostly on the assumption that CCP just wouldn't listen to them but even worse if they actually did.
The candidates I'm most interested in seeing become elected are the players who question CCP, the players who ask "why?" whenever someone comes up with some whack job idea. To be honest, being the sarcastic (expletive deleted) that I am I actually have a fond appreciation of the guys who are brutal on the forums in the way that they express this. There is no better candidate than the man (or woman) who can look at an idea beyond it "being cool" and actually question what functionality it would have in the game. That kind of skepticism is what saves the community -AND- the developers from wasted time, money, and assets.
I do intend to run myself, but not for the same reasons as your typical candidate. Mostly because their reasons generally amuse me and in some cases, frustrate me. The "candidates" who say that they will "represent everybody" and will "tell CCP like it is" make a mockery of anyone who's called themselves a representative. Beyond it being an outright lie (you can't represent everyone, not with the amorphous amount of personalities and directions in the community) it's certainly not in the interest of the game's health. A lot of things that are necessary for the game's meaningful progression and health are contrary to the community's interests. To elaborate with a terrible example, we all generally want to be powerful (god mode invincibility) in a game but it's generally not a good idea.
