That's no different from modded controllers and lag switchers that exist in console games. Take a look at CoD and Halo multiplayer and you'll see what I mean.

My point here is that there is no point in trying to demonize PC when the console is infected with cheaters also. They're not the same cheaters, but they are cheaters none the less.

Honestly I hate this animosity between the console crowd and the PC crowd. It's like looking at all the Apple users and Android users bickering over whose phone is the best. Seriously, enough is enough. I hate this whole PC-vs-Console conflict. It's just nothing more than reason for epeen strokers and neckbeards to beat their chests like gorillas.

As far as your points, only number 2 means anything. Not only that, but number 2 is, absolutely, platform dependent. So, yeah, I think that they can do better on PC than on the outdated PS3. Whether they actually do or not? Well, we'll just have to wait and see.

Gaming companies are in the business to make money. They will follow the money, which right now means more emphasis on PC and Mobile than consoles.

Here's the deal regarding the future, no one knows, but there's a reason that Microsoft went all "entertainment console" with the XBone. You want to know why? It's because the console market is currently being squeezed from both sides. If any market is about to implode, it's consoles as dedicated gaming platforms. You have mobile squeezing from the low cost, casual gamer side (the traditional console market BTW) and PC as ever squeezing from the "hardcore" more expensive side. This leaves consoles in the awkward middle with nowhere to go.

This is why you're seeing a resurgence in PC gaming now (at least those of us with PCs are) and a relative stagnation in the console market. The burn hasn't really hit the console market too bad yet, but give it a year or two. Every time you see some company port their game to Android or IPhone, you should be worried. That's your market being eroded in front of your eyes.

You need to take a step back and reevaluate your own arguments because your logic goes by numbers and if we go by numbers, consoles would be dead too because of the insane numbers of mobile devices like smart phones and tablets.

For the moment, no, but considering how fast technology moves (look at Nvidia's Tegra K1 for example) it won't be long.

Realize that future generations are not going to play console games, they play on tablets.

Progress in Dust/Legion would be completely wiped when cheaters are inevitably caught.

Unlike meaningless frag fests like CoD/BF/Planetside 2, the progress a character makes in Dust/Legion takes substantial time. I doubt many serious players would risk throwing away all that time just to do well in a couple matches.

Funny thing, console game piracy is actually quite common. Incredibly so.

Also worth mentioning is that if you develop for the PC you take a larger chunk of the revenue, especially on Steam. With consoles you have to pay for licensing fees and other such nonsense. So while the number of customers might be smaller on the PC, the profit earned might be much more comparable.

The flow of assets and ISK can be tracked, and RMT isn't doing well in New Eden with PLEX being available.

Also neat is that you can sell older PC games relatively well, but selling older console games is... not as successful in most cases.

Sales don't mean much when it comes to piracy. Most pirates generally encourage buying a game if you like it. And they often do. Sometimes they don't, but when you like a game of course you'll want to support the developers. The people who don't usually buy things that they pirate, probably weren't going to buy it even if they couldn't pirate it.
